Joe Boyle Recalled
Joe Boyle from Triple-A Durham and optioned lefty Joe Rock. Boyle is back in the majors for the first time since he posted an excellent start against the Atlanta Braves on April 13. He gave up two runs (both unearned) on no hits while striking out seven and walking two to earn the victory in that game. The 25-year-old has also held his own over a much larger sample size in the minors this season. Boyle has pitched to a microscopic 1.85 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 31 walks over 73 innings with Durham. It's unclear whether the Rays plan to start Boyle at some point before the All-Star break or use him in relief.
