Athletics Release Seth Brown
Seth Brown (elbow) was waived by the Athletics on Wednesday and elected free agency Thursday, MLB.com reports. In addition to being injured with an elbow issue, the Athletics decided to move on from the 32-year-old left-hander after seven seasons with the team. The decision perhaps stems from the crop of young prospects the Athletics have been calling up to the big leagues, and their desire to create an environment where the young players can play every day. In addition, Brown has struggled in 2025, slashing .185/.303/.262 with only one home run, six runs scored, and three RBI in 76 plate appearances. Brown has some pop in his bat, as he has hit 14 or more home runs in the last four seasons, so a team looking for a left-handed batter with some power will likely take a flier on him.
