Ryan Pressly Picks Up Save on Thursday
Ryan Pressly picked up a save in his team's 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Pressly tossed a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a baserunner on the way to earning his fifth save in as many chances for the Cubs. It was the 36-year-old's first save since April as the Cubs have turned to Daniel Palencia, who pitched the eighth, as their preferred closer. Pressly now has a 2-2 record, 3.81 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts over 26 innings of work this season. It is likely that the Cubs were just playing the matchups with Pressly and Palencia flipping roles on Thursday. Look for Pressly to return to his setup role moving forward.
