John Metchie III 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Off The Fantasy Radar Completely
John Metchie III had high expectations swirling around him once upon a time. Houston has appeared to completely move on from the idea of him ever having a prominent role in the offense. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Texans selected WRs Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel in the 2nd and 3rd rounds respectively. Before the draft, they signed wide receiver Christian Kirk, good in his own right, to a 1-year deal. Metchie's role in this offense will be basically nothing unless a lot of injuries occur -- Houston now clearly has four receivers ahead of him on the depth chart. Though WR Tank Dell will likely spend the entire year rehabbing his the brutal knee injury that ended his 2024 season prematurely, this doesn't change Metchie's outlook. He was likely just misevaluated by the NFL. It's doubtful he'll ever be fantasy football-relevant, and it definitely won't happen this season.
