San Francisco Giants first baseman David Villar has elected free agency, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. This move was widely expected after Villar was designated for assignment earlier this week. The 28-year-old had appeared in 118 games with the Giants over parts of four seasons, but he was slashing just .200/.360/.250 to open the 2025 campaign. Pavlovic and other members of the Giants beat have reported that Villar will look for a better opportunity elsewhere, and he'd reportedly be open to playing internationally.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
