Carmen Mlodzinski Being Sent to Triple-A
Carmen Mlodzinski to Triple-A Indianapolis and call up rookie pitcher Mike Burrows from the minors in order to make the start on Thursday against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers in the series opener for his major-league debut, according to MLB.com's Alex Stumpf. Mlodzinski won a spot in Pittsburgh's starting rotation out of spring training but struggled for efficiency in his nine starts before being sent down, going 1-4 with a career-worst 5.67 ERA (4.30 FIP) and 1.61 WHIP with 28 strikeouts and 12 walks in 39 2/3 innings pitched. He will most likely continue starting games on the farm at Indy to give the Bucs rotation depth in the minors, but if/when he returns to the big leagues, he might be relegated to a long-relief role out of the bullpen.
