Colton Gordon Optioned Back to Triple-A
Houston Astros pitching prospect Colton Gordon was sent back to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday after making two starts for the team over the past week. The southpaw allowed six earned runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 9 2/3 innings of work in those two starts. The Astros' 14th-ranked prospect had pitched well for Sugar Land, posting a 2.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 20.6 percent K-BB% over eight starts (42 1/3 IP), but was unable to replicate that success in the majors. The 26-year-old will surely get another opportunity at some point this season, but the 6-foot-4 hurler is not a stash candidate at this time.
