Gage Workman Gets Designated For Assignment
Gage Workman (hip) was activated off the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment by the organization. Workman only managed to play in one game for the White Sox before going down with a hip injury. He was traded to the White Sox from the Chicago Cubs a few weeks ago. Workman is a Rule 5 pick, so he'll be offered back to the Detroit Tigers, assuming he clears waivers. Last season, Workman slashed .280/.366/.476 with 18 home runs, 89 RBI, and 30 stolen bases in 126 games in Double-A with the Tigers organization. Workman appears to be able to do enough with the bat to warrant a bench spot on an MLB roster.
