2025 NFL Free Agency Predictions: Potential Landing Spots and Fantasy Football Impact

Where will the top NFL free agents sign in 2025 and how will that impact their fantasy value for next season? Joey Pollizze explores 15 landing spots for the 2025 free agency class.

When NFL free agency officially opens on Wednesday, March 12 at 4 p.m. ET, moves are going to happen almost suddenly. Last year, running backs D'Andre Swift and Tony Pollard were a few names who signed almost immediately once the free agency period opened up. Even Saquon Barkley reached a contract agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on Day 1 of free agency.

As a result, expect things to move quickly in free agency. Players like Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson, Chris Godwin, and Aaron Jones could all sign deals right away. Although this free agent class isn't the strongest, plenty of star players will move teams this offseason.

So, where will the top free agents land this offseason? Let's dive in and predict where each of these players will land and how it will affect their fantasy value in 2025.

QB Sam Darnold - Pittsburgh Steelers

Darnold is going to get a multi-year deal from some team this offseason. There's a good chance that team will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Justin Fields and Russell Wilson both set to hit free agency, the Steelers will need to do something to address their quarterback room in the coming months.

If Darnold lands in Pittsburgh, he will be the team's QB1 for the foreseeable future. From a fantasy perspective, though, he will likely be drafted as more of a QB2 option this upcoming year. The Steelers don't have the best wide receiver core, and it remains to be seen if the quarterback's 2024 season was more of a one-hit-wonder.

Update: Darnold signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

QB Aaron Rodgers - New York Giants

With Aaron Rodgers being released by the New York Jets last month, the future Hall of Famer will have the opportunity to sign with any team in free agency. The New York Giants are certainly an appealing spot for the 41-year-old. Rodgers won't have to move from his current home, and the Giants could sign him as a bridge quarterback until they find their franchise signal-caller.

So, this could be a perfect fit for the two sides. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter also said the Giants are "investigating all veteran quarterback options." However, Rodgers would likely be more of a QB2 option in fantasy once again. Even though he'll have an elite wideout in Malik Nabers to throw to, his lack of rushing will give him a much lower floor and ceiling in fantasy each week.

QB Justin Fields - New York Jets

The Jets will probably be in on all the top free-agent quarterbacks this offseason as they look for their next starting quarterback. After acquiring an older quarterback in Rodgers a couple of years ago, though, expect New York to go younger at the position this time around. Therefore, Fields might be the perfect signing for the team in free agency.

He showed signs of taking that next step last season and led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record in his six starts. Now, if Fields signs with the Jets, his fantasy value would also increase. He would be the team's starting quarterback and has always been a strong fantasy option due to his rushing. The last time the 25-year-old started at least 15 games in a season, he finished as the QB7 back in 2022.

QB Russell Wilson - Las Vegas Raiders

While there have been reports that the Raiders are not interested in Russell Wilson, there are reasons to believe otherwise. For starters, Pete Carroll is now the head coach in Las Vegas. The two spent 10 years together in Seattle from 2012 to 2021, and the Raiders desperately need to address the quarterback position heading into 2025.

As a result, this is really a match made in heaven for both sides. Wilson and Carroll will get the chance to reunite and try to turn around this Raiders organization. In fantasy, the veteran quarterback would continue to be more of a QB2 option. He has finished outside the top 12 at the quarterback position in four straight seasons

Update: With Geno Smith being traded to Las Vegas, Wilson will no longer land with the Raiders. Look for the Steelers, Giants, and Jets to be interested in him once free agency opens.

RB Aaron Jones - Minnesota Vikings

Even though Jones just turned 30 years old in December, he will enter free agency as one of the top backs in this year's class. He just ran for a career-high 1,138 yards and became an integral part of Minnesota's offense a season ago. As a result, the Vikings will probably do all they can to re-sign the veteran running back before free agency even begins.

If Jones winds up back in Minnesota, he will surely be a solid RB2 option once again for fantasy managers. The 30-year-old finished as the RB15 in PPR formats last season and has played all 17 games for the second time in three years. So, staying with the Vikings would be great for his fantasy value in 2025. 

Update: Jones re-signed with the Vikings. 

RB Najee Harris - Denver Broncos

There's a chance the Steelers try their hardest to keep Najee Harris in Pittsburgh for the foreseeable future. But there's also a chance that a team like the Denver Broncos will make an aggressive offer to Harris once free agency opens. With Javonte Williams headed to free agency, Denver will likely be in the market to add a running back this offseason.

Harris feels like the perfect fit for what the Broncos want to do on offense. Sean Payton is a firm believer in establishing the run, and the former first-round pick has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his four NFL seasons. This landing spot should keep the 26-year-old as a solid RB2 option. Denver had one of the best offensive lines in all of football last year.

Update: Harris signed with the Chargers. 

RB J.K. Dobbins - Los Angeles Chargers

It was impressive to watch running back J.K. Dobbins last season. He ran for a career-high 905 yards and nine touchdowns while finishing as the RB24 in PPR formats. Although he missed time later in the year due to a knee injury, Dobbins showed that he is more than capable of holding a starting job in Los Angeles again.

So, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him back with the Chargers on a multi-year deal. If that does happen, fantasy managers should expect him to put up similar fantasy numbers as last year. He just turned 26 years old and averaged a solid 4.64 yards per carry in 2024. 

WR Chris Godwin - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Godwin is coming off a season-ending ankle injury, but he should still have a strong market in free agency. That won't matter, though, as the former Pro Bowler will probably re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Matthew Berry, he's heard at the NFL Combine that the Buccaneers "desperately" want to re-sign the wideout.

Therefore, Tampa Bay will likely lock up the 29-year-old wideout for the next couple of years. That is certainly great news for his fantasy value in 2025, considering Godwin was on pace to put up career numbers before his season-ending injury. He totaled 50 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns across his first seven games. So, he should remain a reliable WR2 option for fantasy managers in 2025.

Update: Godwin re-signed with the Buccaneers. 

WR Stefon Diggs - Dallas Cowboys

There's no doubt the Dallas Cowboys are going to upgrade their wide receiver room this offseason. Brandin Cooks is set to become a free agent, and the Cowboys will likely not enter the season with Jalen Tolbert as their WR2. Given that Stefon Diggs has ties in Dallas to Trevon Diggs (brother), this is certainly a possible landing spot for the wideout. 

Although Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 of last season, the veteran will be one of the top wideouts to hit free agency this offseason. If the Cowboys can land him, that would be a big boost for their passing attack in 2025. It would also ensure that the 31-year-old can stay fantasy-relevant by being a high-end WR3.

WR Davante Adams - Green Bay Packers

Wide receiver Davante Adams was released by the New York Jets last week and has the freedom to sign with any team in free agency now. While several teams will likely be in on the three-time All-Pro wideout, a reunion with the Green Bay Packers shouldn't be out of the question.  

The Packers need a true WR1 in their offense, and Adams would immediately fill that void. The 32-year-old caught 85 passes for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns last season with the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets. This landing spot would also keep the veteran in that WR2 territory in fantasy. Jordan Love is more than capable of helping the wideout remain a solid fantasy option.

Update: Adams has signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams. 

WR Amari Cooper - New England Patriots

Wide receiver Amari Cooper wasn't really involved once he was traded to the Buffalo Bills at the deadline, but he should receive a solid deal this offseason. The perfect fit for him would be signing with the New England Patriots. The Patriots desperately need a WR1 in their offense, and Cooper would immediately fill that void. As a result, this could become a reality when free agency opens up.

Cooper would easily become Drake Maye's top target in the passing game, and the 30-year-old could become a reliable WR3 option in fantasy. Now, a lot of his fantasy value will depend on whether Maye can take that next step in 2025. However, operating as the top option in this offense will make him a much safer fantasy option.

WR DeAndre Hopkins - Los Angeles Chargers

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is definitely past his prime. He turns 33 years old in June and only totaled 610 receiving yards last season. But that doesn't mean Hopkins can't contribute in 2025. So, look for a team like the Los Angeles Chargers to possibly be interested in him in free agency.

The Chargers could use another wide receiver in this offense to complement Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in the passing game. Hopkins could also be a mentor to both young playmakers. However, Hopkins would probably not be a strong fantasy option in Los Angeles. He would be more of a low-end flex play each week, depending on his target share.

WR Keenan Allen - Los Angeles Rams

Keenan Allen is another older wideout who will enter free agency this offseason. Luckily, Allen has already said which teams he would want to play for in 2025. The veteran joined the Marcedes Lewis podcast back in November and said he wants to play for "Chicago or LA" in 2025. While he didn't specify if the Rams were one of his preferred destinations, there's a chance that he will join them this offseason.

With Cooper Kupp expected to be traded in the coming weeks, the Rams could sign a cheaper veteran in Allen this offseason. The 32-year-old could fill that Kupp role in the slot in 2025. However, it's hard to see the long-time wideout being a consistent fantasy option this upcoming season. He'll likely be a low-end WR3 in his 13th NFL season.

WR Marquise Brown - Kansas City Chiefs

We really didn't see what wide receiver Marquise Brown could look like in this Kansas City Chiefs offseason last year. That's because Brown injured his shoulder in the preseason and missed the first 15 weeks of the season. Therefore, the Chiefs could give Brown another chance in 2025 on a favorable one-year deal. Still, he wouldn't necessarily be a solid fantasy option.

With Travis Kelce returning for another season and Rashee Rice coming back from a knee injury, there just might not be enough targets to go around in this Chiefs offense. Even if Rice is suspended for a few games due to his involvement in a car crash last summer, Brown would still be battling with Xavier Worthy and Kelce for consistent targets.

Update: Brown re-signed with the Chiefs. 

TE Mike Gesicki - Denver Broncos

There aren't many big-named tight ends who will enter free agency this offseason, but Mike Gesicki will be the tight end that teams show the most interest in. Gesicki is only 29 years old and showed some great things with the Bengals this past season. He caught 65 passes for 665 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. 

That makes a team like the Broncos a possible free-agent destination for Gesicki. Denver desperately needs more weapons in the passing game for Bo Nix, and the tight end position is one of the team's bigger needs entering the offseason. If he does land here, the seven-year veteran could be a low-end TE1 option in 2025. He could operate as that second option for Nix through the air.
