Chris Kirk finished T44 at last week's The Sentry, losing strokes in nearly every category except for around the green and off the tee. He will now focus on preparing for this week's Sony Open at Waialae Country Club. Kirk has a strong history at this tournament, having finished T18 in 2024, third in 2023, and T27 in 2022. An important point to note is that over the past 12 months, Kirk ranks in the 67th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's Sony Open, over 49% of approach shots came from this distance.
