MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/17/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Steven Kwan fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers waiver wire MLB injury news

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on October 17, 2024. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Only four teams are in the hunt for a title, and all are in action today. Game 4 of the NLCS is in New York tonight with the Mets trying to tie the series. The Yankees head to Cleveland for Game 3 of the ALCS trying to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on Thursday, October 17, 2024, with the slate starting at 5:08 p.m. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jose Quintana vs. LAD ($7.7K DraftKings; $9.5K FanDuel)

Pitchers have a much shorter leash in the playoffs. This will be especially true for the team looking to avoid big holes in the series. Quintana has only allowed three runs (two earned) over 15 1/3 postseason innings this year. He has struck out 20 and not allowed a home run.

There is always a risk running a pitcher against the Dodgers, but the veteran Quintana has been a stabilizing force for the Mets in the postseason. I expect a solid start out of him here at the least. On FD, Quintana is the most expensive pitcher. I'm not feeling him as much over there in case things go wrong.

Matthew Boyd at NYY ($7.3K DraftKings; $8.1K FanDuel)

I expect the public to be heavy on the Yankees, so Boyd is a good GPP option. He has been outstanding down the stretch for the Guardians. The bad news is that Boyd hasn't pitched five innings in over a month. It has worked so far. He only allowed five hits in 6 2/3 innings over two appearances in the ALDS with 10 strikeouts.

Also consider: Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. NYM ($8K DK,8.8K FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Mark Vientos – 3B, NYM vs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto ($4.3K DK; $3.7K FD)

Vientos has three homers and 11 RBI in his first postseason. He has three hits in the first three games of this series with one of those homers and four RBI. Vientos was a better hitter at home this year with four more homers than on the road in 26 fewer at-bats.

Gleyber Torres – 2B, NYY vs. Matt Boyd ($4.1K DK; $3.2K FD)

Torres is 4-for-9 so far in this series with three runs scored and a double. He has six hits in the last three games overall. There isn't a hotter Yankee right now, even though Gleyber hasn't been hitting for power. He's still getting us points.

Kike Hernandez – 1B/2B/3B/SS/OF, LAD vs. Jose Quintana ($3K DK; $2.7K FD)

Kike is eligible at every position but catcher on FD, so you can find room for him somewhere. He is 4-for-12 with four runs scored, a homer, and two RBI in the first three games of this series. Hernandez is a career .300 hitter in the postseason. I'll play him every chance I get!

Also consider: Jose Ramirez, Andres Gimenez, Anthony Rizzo

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Juan Soto – OF, NYY vs. Matt Boyd ($6.1K DK, $4.3K FD)

We could see Cleveland continue to pitch around Soto, but walks are still points. He singled and walked in Game 2 after homering off of Alex Cobb (obviously) in Game 1. The points train keeps rolling with Soto.

Steven Kwan – OF, CLE vs. Clarke Schmidt ($4.4K DK; $3.3K FD)

If you want to know how Cleveland got this far, look no further than Kwan. He has a seven-game hitting streak going with three three-hit games in that span. There's not much for power, but Kwan is scoring runs and stealing bases leading off for the Guardians.

Starling Marte – OF, NYM vs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto ($3.4K DK; 2.9K FD)

Marte has four hits over the last two games against the Dodgers. Only one went for extra bases, but we're also not seeing huge totals for winning lineups in the postseason either. Another 5-10 points from Marte at this price should win us money at the very least.

Also consider: Aaron Judge, Teoscar Hernandez, Lane Thomas

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Guardians vs. Clarke Schmidt

  • Favorite Plays: Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Andres Gimenez, Josh Naylor

2. Dodgers. vs. Jose Quintana
