Joe Mixon, Houston Texans - Fantasy Football Outlook

After seven seasons in Cincinnati, Joe Mixon finds himself in Houston this season after the Texans signed him to a three-year, $27M deal this offseason. Mixon's average salary per year is the 6th-most among running backs, just behind Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs.

Needless to say, the Texans view Mixon as their primary ball carrier. That job belonged to Devin Singletary in the latter part of the 2023 season. From Week 10 on, Singletary averaged 13.2 half-PPR points per game and was the RB15.

He played on over 75% of the snaps in five of those nine games. Mixon, like Singletary last season, is no stranger to heavy workloads. Last season, he was 8th in snap share (69.8%), 3rd in opportunity share (78.9%), and 3rd in red zone touches (71).

Now Mixon joins an ascending Houston offense that added Stefon Diggs in the offseason to go along with Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Points will be scored, and Mixon should find himself as one of the primary beneficiaries.

He may not be the most efficient running back in the league, but his secure volume on a high-octane offense should more than makeup for it. Mixon should be viewed as a high-end RB2 with a low-end RB1 upside in 2024.

- Adam Koffler, RotoBaller

James Cook, Buffalo Bills - Fantasy Football Outlook

Once Joe Brady took over as the offensive coordinator, James Cook's potential in the high-powered Buffalo offense was realized. From Week 11 through the end of the season, Cook was the RB11 in PPR formats, averaging a healthy 3.7 targets and 104.3 total yards per contest.

That's even more impressive, considering Cook played over 60% of Buffalo's snaps just twice in that stretch. How does one improve on a 1,567-yard season? For starters, Cook needs to find the end zone more often.

Part of the reason that his snap counts weren't up to par was his exclusion from the huddle inside the ten. The coaching staff preferred beefier backs, mainly Latavius Murray, to push the ball over the goal line.

Murray has departed, but rookie Ray Davis could fill the void. Cook should be even more involved in the passing game in 2024. Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis are vacating 241 targets from a year ago.

The duo was replaced with Curtis Samuel and rookie Keon Coleman, which was a seemingly significant downgrade. If the new wideouts can't separate downfield, Cook may be the biggest target beneficiary. Cook is ranked as an RB2, but even a marginal increase in touchdowns could easily place him in the top 12.

- Andrew Ball, RotoBaller

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' third-year running back Rachaad White was a fantasy gem last season, as many didn't select him until much later in drafts. He ended up being one of the biggest steals in 2023.

Despite the team's struggles, White emerged as a bright spot in the Buccaneers' offense during the 2023 season. The 25-year-old showcased his versatility and playmaking ability as a runner and a receiver.

He finished the 2023 season with 990 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, and 549 receiving yards while adding three more receiving scores. White enters the 2024 season as the Buccaneers' primary running back, poised for a valid breakout year.

His main competition for touches is fourth-round rookie Bucky Irving, veteran Chase Edmonds, and second-year back Sean Tucker.

White is a valuable target in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts, typically in the fourth to the fifth-round range, as his ADP is 40.1 while also being ranked 45th on RotoBaller's player rankings.

His potential for a high volume of touches and involvement in the passing game makes him a reliable and high-upside pick. Managers looking for a versatile running back with the potential for a breakout season should consider drafting White.

He is positioned as a solid RB2 with RB1 upside, particularly in PPR leagues. His dual-threat capability ensures a high floor, and the potential for increased usage in an improved offense provides a significant upside.

White could easily exceed expectations and deliver substantial fantasy value if the Buccaneers' offense performs well with returning quarterback Baker Mayfield.
