Kyle Pitts, Falcons - Fantasy Football Outlook

After a 1,000-yard season as a rookie in 2021, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts fell victim to poor quarterback play and injuries in 2022 and 2023. Pitts was injured for much of the 2022 season. Although he played in all 17 games in 2023, he admitted after the season that he was still experiencing complications from his 2022 MCL injury.

In his past two seasons combined, Pitts only has 1,023 receiving yards and five touchdowns to his name. In 2024, Pitts will have another year of recovery, a significant quarterback upgrade after the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins during the offseason, and a new regime that should scheme more looks for the elite offensive talent in this offense.

The Falcons also drafted Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Pitts should have a season closer to his 2021 season, albeit with more touchdowns in 2024. Although he has only scored six touchdowns in his career, Pitts could very well meet and surpass that total this season alone.

Pitts is currently being drafted as the TE6 in fantasy, at the same spot RotoBaller ranks him. The top four or five tight ends are all elite options who could score twenty fantasy points in any given week.

Selecting the middle-tier tight ends after the elite tier is generally not worth the price. However, Pitts will cost you a round or two less than players such as Mark Andrews or Trey McBride in the draft, with the potential to deliver the same fantasy value.

- Quincy Milton III, RotoBaller

Brock Bowers, Raiders - Fantasy Football Outlook

The Las Vegas Raiders selected tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th overall pick in April's draft. It was a bit of a surprise given the team had just used a second-round pick on tight end Michael Mayer the previous year. Nonetheless, Bowers takes over as the clear TE1 for Las Vegas.

While he is arguably the most talented tight end prospect to come out in recent years, things might be tough in 2024. The Raiders figure to have a run-oriented offense and Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell as QB1 is less than ideal. There is also significant target competition with Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in the mix.

Put it all together, and it's hard to envision a highly productive rookie year for Bowers. He's a fantastic dynasty football investment. For redraft purposes though, we may need to brace for a tough rookie year. Fantasy gamers should not expect a Sam LaPorta-esque rookie breakout as the Raiders' ecosystem is not as friendly as Detroit's was last year.

Managers who select Bowers should invest in an additional tight end to hedge against him struggling as a rookie. Bowers is talented, but he's going to need a lot to go his way to be a difference-maker in 2024.

- Dave Ventresca, RotoBaller

Pat Freiermuth, Steelers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth is looking to rebound from a down 2023 season with only 32 catches for 308 yards and two touchdowns. He missed five games while on IR with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 4, but also left Week 1 early due to a chest bruise. Regardless, his totals were underwhelming.

Only once did he tally more than three receptions in a game, topping eight PPR points twice over 12 games. Pittsburgh's passing offense struggled mightily, ranking in the bottom five for teams in completions, yards, and touchdowns. While Freiermuth burst on the scene with seven touchdowns as a rookie, he's only scored four TDs in 28 games since.

He saw six red-zone looks last year after 10 in 15 games in '22 and tying for the league lead with 20 in 16 contests as a rookie. This is a troubling trend. New starter Russell Wilson should improve the passing outcomes, but new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is known for his run-oriented approach and squandering Kyle Pitts' potential in Atlanta.

Freiermuth may have the talent to succeed as a fantasy option, but he'll have to prove he can earn viable opportunities in this offense to be a fantasy starter. He's currently the TE16 in both RotoBaller's half-PPR ranks and ADP.

- Nick Mariano, RotoBaller

Isaiah Likely, Ravens - Fantasy Football Outlook

Isaiah Likely is an incredibly talented player, unfortunately, his fantasy value is entirely dependent on the health of Mark Andrews. Prior to Andrews' injury, Likely scored over 3.0 fantasy points only once, but once Andrews went down in Week 12, he scored at least 18 fantasy points in three of the next four games and only failed to reach double-digit fantasy points in two of his final 7 games (versus the 49ers and Chiefs).

He also has an excellent rapport with quarterback Lamar Jackson, leading the league in quarterback rating per target (147.0) and fantasy points per target (2.53). Likely is also excels on deep routes, finishing second in yards per target (10.3) and yards per reception (13.7) out of all tight ends. He is a bona fide stud at the position and he would be a virtual lock to finish inside the top five if he were the full-time starter.

Sadly, it does not appear that he will get that opportunity as long as he is in Baltimore because Andrews does exist. It is possible that offensive coordinator Todd Monken will try to get Likely more involved in the offense this season, especially with Andrews coming back from a torn ACL and MCL, but it would be unwise for non-Andrews managers to spend any draft capital on him.

If Andrews is not going to be ready for the start of the season, then Likely becomes a much more valuable asset, especially to start the season, but that needs to be addressed as the season gets closer because right now there is not enough information to rank him as anything higher than a back-end TE2.

His current ADP sits as the TE18 in the seventeenth round, largely undrafted in smaller leagues, which is appropriate given that, at this time, he should not be drafted by anyone as more than an Andrews handcuff.
