Wizards Considering Trading Down in Draft
The Washington Wizards own the first overall selection for the upcoming 2026-2027 NBA Draft. Currently, BYU forward AJ Dybantsa is considered the favorite to go first overall. It's worth noting that Kansas guard Darryn Peterson and Duke's Cam Boozer are also in the mix for the top selection. Given the depth at the top of the draft, the Wizards could potentially trade the top overall selection and stockpile a ton of assets. Wizards president Michael Winger has said that the front office will consider trading down in the draft. It's hard to imagine the Wizards giving up the pick unless they get a blockbuster deal. This team might not be too far away from competing with veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis on the roster. Also, young players such as Alexandre Sarr and Kyshawn George can be built around. Dybantsa has MVP ceiling upside that is going to be tough to pry away.
