Although John Hunter Nemechek has never finished better than 21st on a road course in the NASCAR Cup Series before, he may contend for his best-ever road course finish in today's Chicago Street Course race after qualifying 12th. While Nemechek didn't enter last year's race, he started the rain-shortened Xfinity Series race the previous day, where he qualified third and finished second. Nemechek has often had speed on road courses in both the Xfinity Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, but his only win came in 2016 when he wrecked Cole Custer at Mosport. For a team lacking speed like Legacy Motor Club, road courses can be a great equalizer as driver input can more easily overcome a speed deficit than on ovals. However, Nemechek still tends to crash too much and it seems likelier given his history that he will find trouble than maximize his results.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
