BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been a solid fantasy football quarterback this season. He is the QB8 for the year, averaging 16.8 fantasy points per game. The former No. 1 overall has the fourth-most passing touchdowns (28), totaling more than Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Lamar Jackson.
The veteran quarterback has been drastically better at Ford Field than on the road. Goff has thrown 17 of his passing touchdowns at home, totaling two or more in 71.4% of those matchups. By comparison, he has 11 passing touchdowns on the road, scoring more than one in only three contests. Thankfully, his Week 18 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings is at home.
Minnesota has surrendered 16.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, slightly above the league average. Last week, Jordan Love had three passing touchdowns and a rushing score against the Vikings, totaling 28.4 fantasy points, a career-high.
While the Lions have very little to play for in Week 18, head coach Dan Campbell said the team will play their starters. However, he didn’t say they would play the entire game.
Fantasy players in season-long leagues shouldn’t trust Goff despite the appealing matchup. He could only play a quarter or a half before ending up on the bench. However, the quarterback is a solid option in DFS this week.
