Eugenio Suarez Exits After Hit By Pitch
Eugenio Suarez (hand) left a 5-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers in the ninth inning on Monday after taking a pitch off the right hand. The Diamondbacks replaced Suarez, who was in obvious pain, with Blaze Alexander after Tigers closer Will Vest hit him with a 95.6 mph fastball. If this is a serious injury, it could have major ramifications on Thursday's trade deadline. Suarez is considered the best hitter who could end up on the move in the coming days, but a trade may not come together if he has to miss a significant amount of time. From a fantasy standpoint, the 34-year-old would be an enormous loss for managers. Suarez has been one of the game's elite power hitters this season, having slashed .248/.321/.577 with 36 homers, 87 RBI, and 64 runs scored in 433 plate appearances. UPDATE: Manager Torey Lovullo said Suarez will go for X-rays, and the D-backs are calling him day-to-day for now.
