NFL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings - Packers vs. Vikings SNF Showdown

Free Agency Check - Quarterback ADP Risers and Fallers

John's top NFL DFS lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings - Packers vs. Vikings DFS showdown slate on 12/31. His Sunday Night Football daily fantasy football advice.

Welcome back, and Happy New Year's Eve, RotoBallers! We have what could end up being a pretty fun showdown tonight as we have a battle between two NFC North opponents with playoff implications on the line. It'll be Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers (7-8) heading to take on Jaren Hall and the Minnesota Vikings (7-8).

We've been pretty successful over the past few seasons with these showdown slates and hopefully, that trend continues from last year into this year. Most of us started our fantasy journeys with football, so it's always nice when it comes around. Thanks to the advanced analytics of today, I'll do my best to provide you with as much in-depth analysis as possible regarding positional matchups and the like to help put some lunch money in your pocket. Let's make some coin this season gang, and let's get right to it.

I will be providing you with daily fantasy football picks on FanDuel and DraftKings for the Packers vs. Vikings Sunday Night NFL DFS showdown slate on December 31. These NFL DFS lineup picks can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. MVP/Captain Plays

Jordan Love - QB, $16,500 (DK), $15,500 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 3,587 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 45 rushing attempts, 246 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and two fumbles lost.
  • Projected Pass DVOA: 15.1%

I'll start things off tonight with Jordan Love. Love and the Packers have their hands full tonight against Minnesota. Green Bay comes into this one ranked fourth in passing DVOA, while the Vikings' defense ranks 7th in defensive DVOA against the pass. Love will also be missing one of his top targets, Christian Watson, who is currently doubtful with a hamstring injury. Nevertheless, he projects to 243.88 passing yards and 1.34 passing touchdowns and could light it up as the Packers fight for their playoff lives.

Ty Chandler - RB, $12,300 (DK), $12,500 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 80 rushing attempts, 352 rushing yards, 19 targets, 16 receptions, 115 receiving yards, three touchdowns.
  • Projected Rush DVOA: -13.51%

I'll flip the field and take a look at Ty Chandler next. Chandler has taken over as the alpha in the backfield for Minnesota. The Vikings show a projected positive regression in the running game, and while it isn't much, I feel as though it's enough for them to keep control of the football and make like easy for Jaren Hall. Chandler projects to run the ball 14.34 times for 64.53 yards while adding 1.86 receptions on 2.65 targets for 13.55 yards.

Other Captains/MVPs: Justin Jefferson, Jayden Reed, Aaron Jones, Jaren Hall, Jordan Addison

DFS Flex Plays

Aaron Jones - RB, $9,800 (DK), $12,000 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 100 rushing attempts, 425 rushing yards, 37 targets, 24 receptions, 193 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and one fumble lost.
  • Projected Rush DVOA: -16.87%

I'll take a look at Aaron Jones next. As shown by his touchdown numbers, it seems as though Jones hasn't had the easiest time finding the end zone this season. This will hopefully change in this one. While the Vikings rank 11th in rushing touchdowns against running backs this season, they rank 30th in the category over the last four weeks, allowing 1.33 rushing touchdowns per game. Jones should be a dual threat from the backfield tonight, cumulating 15.81 touches for 80.81 yards and 0.46 touchdowns.

Justin Jefferson - WR, $12,000 (DK), $11,000 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 76 targets, 51 receptions, 823 receiving yards, four touchdowns, and one fumble lost.
  • Opponent DVOA vs. WR1: 21.01%

I'll take a look at Justin Jefferson next. Had it been Kirk Cousins or even Joshua Dobbs under center tonight, I'd be higher on Jefferson than I am right now. Nevertheless, the Packers will be without Jaire Alexander tonight, who will be sidelined as he was placed on the reserve/suspended list for conduct detrimental to the team. Even with Alexander in the secondary, the Vikings do struggle against top wide receivers and tonight should be no different as Jefferson projects 8.08 receptions on 9.82 targets for 113.66 yards and 0.64 touchdowns.

Other Flex Options: Jordan Addison, Jayden Reed, Jaren Hall

DFS Value Plays

Dontayvion Wicks - WR, $5,600 (DK), $8,000 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 51 targets, 33 receptions, 520 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and one fumble lost.
  • Opponent DVOA vs. Other WR: -9.09%

I'll take a peek at Dontayvion Wicks next. Wicks will slide up to the WR3 spot tonight should he play, as he was participating in "very limited" activity this week, per ESPN.com. Should he be good to go he's worth a stab given his price. He caught a touchdown in two targets last week but saw back-to-back weeks of six and seven targets the two weeks prior. Tonight, he projects to 3.31 receptions on 5.18 targets for 34.59 yards and 0.23 touchdowns.

Johnny Mundt - TE, $2,800 (DK), $7,000 (FD)

Key Stats

  • 2023 Stats: 10 targets, eight receptions, 75 receiving yards.
  • Opponent DVOA vs. TE: 18.32%

I'll wrap things up with Johnny Mundt. Mundt and Josh Oliver will do the majority of the tight end duties for Minnesota tonight. This is a good spot for Mundt considering that Green Bay comes into this one ranked 28th in DVOA against the position. They've been prone to giving up touchdowns to the position, allowing 0.4 per game this season and 0.5 over the last four weeks. Tonight he projects to 1.97 receptions on 3.56 targets for 15.87 yards and 0.2 touchdowns. I'll back the old adage of "a tight end is a backup quarterback's best friend" once again here and slot a very cheap Johnny Mundt into a lot of my lineups.

Other Value Options: Josh Oliver, Packers D/ST, Anders Carlson, Greg Joseph

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and good luck everyone!
