Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer was the 77th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Palmer had a productive college career, totaling 99 receptions for 1,514 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in four years at Tennessee.
The former Volunteer had a solid rookie season playing behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams on the depth chart. The rookie had 33 receptions on 49 targets for 353 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, his fantasy impact was minimal because of Austin Ekeler and Jared Cook.
However, Palmer played better last season. The former Tennessee wide receiver had 72 receptions on 107 targets for 769 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He played a critical role for Justin Herbert and the offense, with Allen and Williams struggling with injuries.

Joshua Palmer Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Unfortunately, Williams suffered a torn ACL in the Week 3 win over the Minnesota Vikings. With the star wide receiver out for the year, Palmer has stepped up as the new No. 2 wide receiver for the Chargers. However, the former Tennessee Volunteer entered the Week 8 matchup with a knee injury. Yet, he started the game against the Chicago Bears.
However, Palmer re-injured his knee against Chicago and left the game. Thankfully, he returned and finished the contest, totaling three receptions on four targets for 24 receiving yards and 3.9 half-point PPR fantasy points.
The Chargers play Monday night against the New York Jets. That means the team’s first practice won’t be until Thursday. Head coach Brandon Staley said he will have an update about Palmer’s knee on Thursday when the team practices.
Joshua Palmer Fantasy Football Outlook
While Allen remains the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for Los Angeles, the third-year player has played well. Palmer has 23 receptions on 39 targets for 377 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. Furthermore, he is the WR53, averaging 7.6 fantasy points per game.
If Palmer can’t play Monday night against the Jets, Quentin Johnston will see an uptick in targets and snaps. The rookie wide receiver has struggled this year. However, he is coming off his best performance, totaling five receptions on six targets for 50 receiving yards and 7.5 fantasy points in the win over Chicago.
