Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Reports for TEs: Sam LaPorta, Darren Waller, Cole Kmet, Dalton Kincaid, more

Cole Kmet - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL injury News

Fantasy football injury updates for tight ends for Week 6 (2023) as of 10/14, including TEs Sam LaPorta, Darren Waller, Cole Kmet, Dalton Kincaid, and more.

There are studs and mid-level streamers at the tight end position dealing with injuries heading into Week 6, making start-or-sit decisions at the position even tougher than usual. These are the latest injury updates as of Saturday, October 14, 2023, for tight ends Sam LaPorta, Darren Waller, Cole Kmet, Dalton Kincaid, and more. As always, things can change in a hurry, so make sure to stay up to date.

Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football. Tight ends are always tricky to navigate in fantasy football, so keeping up with the latest injury news is vital for staying competitive.

Sam LaPorta Injury Update

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (calf) is officially questionable to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. The Iowa product has been impressive to start in his NFL career and is behind only Travis Kelce in total fantasy points among tight ends (all scoring formats).

He's a must-start option if active. If not, Brock Wright will serve as the primary tight end for Jared Goff. He'd have value in deep leagues, but fantasy managers might want to look for LaPorta's replacement on the waiver wire.

Darren Waller Injury Update

New York Giants tight end Darren Waller (groin) is officially questionable to play in Week 6 on Sunday night against the Bills in Buffalo. Waller did not practice on Wednesday but was limited on Thursday and Friday. He said earlier in the week that his missed practice on Wednesday was just a planned rest day and that he expects to be active this weekend.

We'd be surprised if the 31-year-old didn't play on Sunday night. Waller had his best game with the Giants in the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins, but now he'll be taking passes from backup Tyrod Taylor behind a porous offensive line against a stingy Bills defense in Week 6. We would recommend fading Waller as a TE1 in fantasy this week.

Cole Kmet Injury Update

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet (hamstring) is no longer on the injury report heading into the Week 6 game against the Vikings. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief, as the TE3 from the past two weeks will take the field against one of the weaker defensive units against the position.

The Vikings allow 12.8 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends in PPR formats. Over the last two games, Kmet has hauled in three touchdowns, and the only players at his position that have scored more in that time are Sam LaPorta and Travis Kelce. Kmet looks to be a good start this week, as the offense is rolling and he has a good matchup.

Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox Injury Update

Buffalo Bills tight ends Dalton Kincaid (concussion) and Dawson Knox (wrist) are both listed as questionable for the Sunday Night Football game against the New York Giants in Week 6. Both Kincaid and Knox were limited in practice all week, for what it's worth. Kincaid is probably more in danger of missing the contest, and it will make it tougher on fantasy managers since the game will be the late one on Sunday's slate.

If you have similar options as tight end streamers that aren't injured, you may want to play it safe and roll with them, especially since both Kincaid and Knox have had low fantasy ceilings so far in 2023 because of the presence of the other. If both Kincaid and Knox are inactive, Quintin Morris would step into a much larger role, but he wouldn't be worth streaming consideration.

David Njoku Injury Update

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (face, hand) is listed as questionable to play in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. Njoku returned to the practice field on Friday after missing practice the previous two days. The 27-year-old suffered serious burns to his face and hand before the Week 4 game but was still able to play. The Browns were on bye last week.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he feels good about Njoku playing again this weekend, but fantasy managers will want to check his official status on Sunday morning. Quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) will miss his second straight game with a rotator-cuff injury, so Njoku is an easy fade as a low-end TE1 in fantasy lineups against a stingy Niners defense. If Njoku is inactive, Harrison Bryant will have a much bigger role.
