Week 2 Kicker Streamers and Starts - 2023 Fantasy Tiers, Rankings

Cameron Dicker - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups, Kickers, Streamers

Mike Fanelli breaks down all 2023 fantasy football Week 2 kickers - streamers, starts, sits, targets, avoids, and waiver wire pickups. Our Week 2 rankings and tiers for all of the NFL kickers.

The first week of the 2023 NFL season is officially in the books, so let’s take a quick look and see how last week’s fantasy football kicker streamers performed for fantasy managers.

Brandon Aubrey (10 fantasy points), Chase McLaughlin (10 fantasy points), and Nick Folk (18 fantasy points) all finished the week as top-10 scoring kickers heading into the Monday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. Hopefully, fantasy players had one of these kickers on their team and got the Week 1 victory.

Either way, let’s look at the fantasy football kicker rankings, streamers and starts for Week 2 of the fantasy football season.

Kicker Streamers to Target for Week 2

All streamers in this article are rostered in under 60% of leagues.

Cameron Dicker (LAC) vs. Tennessee Titans (31.8% Rostered)

The Chargers didn’t get the Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins, but Cameron Dicker had an excellent performance. The former Longhorn made both field goals and all four extra point attempts against the Dolphins, scoring 12 fantasy points. The second-year kicker connected on a career-long 50-yard field goal early in the game, accounting for nearly half his fantasy points in Week 1.

Meanwhile, Dicker faces the Titans this week in what should result in another impressive fantasy performance from the kicker. Tennessee’s defense was outstanding in Week 1, giving up only 16 points in the loss. More importantly, the Titans surrendered 12 fantasy points to rookie Blake Grupe. The former Notre Dame kicker made all three of his field goal attempts as Tennessee limited the New Orleans Saints to only one touchdown in the game.

Dustin Hopkins (CLE) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (10.1% Rostered)

When the Chargers declared Dicker their starting kicker, they shipped Dustin Hopkins to the Browns. Cleveland couldn’t be more satisfied with the veteran kicker after his Week 1 performance in the rain. Furthermore, fantasy players were happy with the former Florida State kicker. Hopkins scored 12 fantasy points last week, the sixth-highest-scoring kicker heading into Monday Night Football.

Thankfully, the veteran kicker has an appealing matchup in Week 2 against the Steelers. Last week was a complete disaster for Pittsburgh. They got embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers. The reigning NFC West champions had no trouble scoring on offense. More importantly, it led to several kicking opportunities for the rookie Jake Moody. The former Michigan kicker made all three of his field goal attempts in Week 1, scoring 14 fantasy points in his NFL debut.

Jason Sanders (MIA) vs. New England Patriots (7.4% Rostered)

Jason Sanders missed a critical extra point attempt late in the game that could have cost Miami the victory. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. The former New Mexico kicker had many confused during the game, as the broadcast mistakenly said he converted a 71-yard field goal right before halftime. However, the veteran kicker had an impressive fantasy performance in Week 1. Sanders made all three of his field goal attempts and ended the game with 14 fantasy points.

More importantly, he has another fantasy-friendly matchup in Week 2. Last year, the Patriots surrendered only 7.3 fantasy points per game to kickers, the ninth-fewest in the NFL. However, Jake Elliott had 18 fantasy points this past week against New England. Not only was it the most fantasy points scored by a kicker in Week 1 heading into Monday Night Football, but it was also the second-most fantasy points Elliott scored in his career.

Kicker Busts to Avoid for Week 2

Fantasy players should always stream the kicker position. However, it’s important to avoid picking up and starting a kicker that will be a bust. Let’s see which two kickers you shouldn’t pick up off the waiver wire this week.

Matt Gay (IND) vs. Houston Texans (54.2% Rostered)

Last week, Matt Gay was my top kicker to avoid. Hopefully, fantasy players listened. The veteran kicker didn’t attempt a field goal against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He did make all three extra-point attempts. Unfortunately, that led to only three fantasy points, one of the fewest totals in Week 1. Sadly, the veteran kicker is on my avoid list again this week.

The Week 2 contest between the Colts and Texans will be exciting. It is the first matchup between C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson. However, I’m avoiding both kickers in this game. Both teams were inconsistent on offense in Week 1. Furthermore, Justin Tucker only had five fantasy points against the Texans last week despite the Ravens scoring 25 points in the win.

Chris Boswell (PIT) vs. Cleveland Browns (5.1% Rostered)

Many picked the Steelers to upset the 49ers in Week 1. Instead, Pittsburgh got obliterated, losing 30-7. Unfortunately, the team’s offense looked out of sync. Furthermore, they suffered multiple injuries, including to Diontae Johnson and Pat Freiermuth. More importantly, Chris Boswell only had one fantasy point in the game, making his lone extra-point attempt.

After scoring the second-fewest fantasy points on Sunday, things won’t be much better in Week 2. The Browns’ defense was lights out against the Cincinnati Bengals, holding Joe Burrow to only 82 passing yards. More importantly, Evan McPherson had only three fantasy points against the division rival, making one of his two field goal attempts. Boswell will struggle again this week unless the Steelers offense does a complete 180 from Week 1.
