Byron Lindeque breaks down the FanDuel DFS lineup picks for the Memorial (2023). Daily fantasy golf advice on under-owned golfers and who to avoid for your lineups.

In this article, we'll discuss some of the standout PGA DFS plays available on FanDuel. While it's impossible to hit on every player, we'll touch on some different plays across all price ranges, breaking the groups down into "High," "Mid," and "Low" price options that are worth considering.

FanDuel Strategy Nuances (PGA DFS)

Before we dive into the FanDuel plays for this week, we are going to be comparing the prices of golfers on the FD slate to that of the DraftKings slate in order to figure out some value for the respective golfers. We get an extra $10,000 ($60,000 salary limit in FanDuel) to spend on the same six guys, so there is an opportunity to build some really optimal lineups if we find the right guys. The average increase per player should be $1,666.67 ($10,000/6).

Below is the difference in salary between the two DFS platforms using the downloadable research station that is part of our affordable Premium Package. It has event history, recent form, DFS scoring upside, and a whole lot more nerdy stuff. This week we are using Birdies or Better Gained to filter on golfers we are targeting.

High-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Scottie Scheffler ($12,100, $800 difference)

This guy is on a tear right now. The level of consistency he is striking the ball with is unprecedented! We now head to a course where ball striking is emphasized while his black sheep of a putter gets a shade more grey, with putting a little essential in scoring on the tough Muirfield Village track. Scheffler is the most expensive option, but at this rate, you might as well continue to ride Scheffler at this price until he proves that a finish outside of T12 is actually a possibility. Full send on the Texan till further notice.

Patrick Cantlay ($11,800, $1,300 difference)

Patrick Cantlay has finished inside the top-10 in three of his last four starts at the Memorial. He is also putting up some ridiculous results lately, which is in the shadow of what Scheffler is doing, but he is a perennial top-20 golfer who gets bumped to top-10 at this course. He will be less popular at this price, only $300 less than Scheffler on the FD slate. As one of the best drivers in the world, Cantlay will look to lean on his distance and accuracy to navigate the penal rough, while also flashing some world class putting ability on Bentgrass greens. Cantlay dominates par 5s which are the only four holes on the course that play under par, making them essential to score well.

Mid-Priced FanDuel DFS Plays

Mid-priced salary differences. Notice how much more red we see in that difference column in this range versus the high-priced range. Bear that in mind when deciding which players to play on either platform.

Tyrrell Hatton ($10,400, $1,100 difference)

Tyrrell Hatton is ALSO one of the hottest golfers on tour right now, finishing top-20 in his last four starts. The T15 in his last start at the PGA Championship is even more impressive if you consider he was +7 after his front nine in R1. All areas of his game are firing on all cylinders right now and a long, rough-intensive golf course suits his swing as he has a really solid strokes gained out of the rough from 150+ yards out. If all of this comes together this week, he has a shot at winning his first PGA event in some time.

Hideki Matsuyama ($10,100, $1,400) 

Hideki's recent form is starting to round in rostering him a little more than we have in the past. He is also a great fit for this course as he has an impeccable around the green game. His ability to hit greens from thick rough is some of the best on tour. His putter has been his biggest liability recently, which may be limited at a venue like this where he can just pound greens and walk away with his pars.

Low-Priced FanDuel DFS Players

The below golfers are all candidates to round out your player pool.

Shane Lowry ($9,800, $1,700 increase)

Lowry has been inside the top-20 in two of his last four starts this year, and has a 32nd and 6th place finish at Muirfield Village in his last two showings. We have a nice combination of recent form and course history that will aid him in his pursuit of getting back into contention after some poor starts by his standards recently. Lowry's biggest liability is his putter, which we can expect to not be in as much limelight on this course than elsewhere.

K.H. Lee ($8,800, $1,500 increase)

K.H. Lee does a lot of things well for success at this course, with his last 50 rounds around the green being one of his best attributes. He has also been striking his irons really well over the L24 rounds, having made 77% of his cuts recently. Lee is a low-priced golfer who has the potential to provide high-upside relative to his price. A T8 at the Wells Fargo four starts ago is some form that we can hope for this week.

Alex Smalley ($8,500, $1,700)

Smalley has been playing some stellar golf in his last three starts, with finishes of T40, T23, and T18. He is accurate off the tee and his approach play and adds to his ball striking repertoire that has seen him play so well lately. He is affordable at $8,500 and if his recent form continues he could be a great low priced option to make room for some studs at the top of the lineup.
