MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Clayton Kershaw OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-120 DraftKings Sportsbook)

Clayton Kershaw has been a model of consistency since he appeared in the big leagues in 2008. Since 2019 his K% has been 26.8%, 28.1%, 29.5%, 27.8%, and now 27.1% to start this season. Not much has changed for Kershaw regarding stuff, but the matchup is intriguing here. He faces an offense in the San Francisco Giants that have opened the season with a 29.3% K and a 38.7% K against lefties. I expect Kershaw to cruise to over 6.5 Ks and cash my most confident K prop for us tonight.

Kevin Gausman OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-120 MGM Sportsbook)

Kevin Gausman gets the Detroit Tigers at home after Alek Manoah continued his struggles early this season last night. Gausman has been hot as he has opened the season with a 27.5% K and has struck out seven in his opening two starts. Gausman has as long a leash as anyone, as he went 86 and 90 pitches in his first two outings of the season.

The Tigers projected lineup has a 26.9% K to start 2023 and, since 2022, a 26.3% K against right-hand pitching. They also project to have five right-hand bats in their lineup, which is great for Gausman as he has a 29.7% K against that handiness. Our top two pitchers listed for K props get the best two matchups on paper to start 2023.

Single Game Parlay Edward Cabrera 5+ strikeouts | Zack Wheeler 6+ strikeouts (+140 DraftKings Sportbook)

Here's a little single-game parlay for you all today as I like both of these strikeout totals at their numbers, but both are listed as plus numbers at over 5.5 for Cabrera and over 6.5 for Wheeler. I love the idea of pairing the two for less and getting +140 odds.

The Phillies have opened the season with a 25.8% K and a 27.1% K against right-hand pitching. Both are good for the top five in the league and make a good spot to target for Edward Cabrera, who respectively has a 24.8% K. The only concern here is Cabrera pitching deep enough into this game to get to the five-strikeout plateau, but the Phillies have been a bit cold of late, so I like his chances here, and a big reason I like getting this in a parlay for less.

The Marlins are in the same boat as the Phillies as they have opened the season with a 26.1% K and a 27.0% K against right-hand pitching. Wheeler is a much better pitcher than Cabrera, so taking his over 6.5 K prop is much safer, but he hasn't been as sharp early in the season. He still has posted a 27.3% K, but we're not seeing him get deep into games like he normally does, ultimately hurting the strikeout upside.

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Starling Marte OVER 0.5 stolen bases (+210 DraftKings SportsBook)

I have had a lot of success attacking stolen bases early this season, so I will continue to include my favorite stolen base prop every time I write this article. I usually will bet my favorite three of these and round-robin them and hope to hit at least two out of three.

My first stolen base candidate is Starling Marte. Marte profiles very well against Snell. He had a .373 wOBA against lefties last season and has carried that success into 2023 with a .388 wOBA. Marte has faced Snell 15 times in his career and has reached base five times, so his chances of getting on base in this matchup are good.

Since 2021 Snell has allowed 31 stolen bases, which is the ninth most among any pitcher during that span. Marte has been a stolen base machine his entire career, as he has 318 career steals, including four already this season. I am confident Marte will get on base, and I hope no one else is on base ahead of him.

Chas McCormick OVER 1.5 Hits, Runs, RBIs -155 (DraftKings SportsBook)

The Astros have a new leadoff hitter in Chas McCormick. Moving to the leadoff spot will give him more opportunities to score runs and steal more bases. Hill has a .330 wOBA to right-hand hitters since 2022, and McCormick has a ridiculous .413 wOBA against lefties in the same span. We can see this hit within the first five minutes if he gets on base to start the game.
