The Baltimore Ravens had a disappointing 2022 season. After starting the year 8-4, Lamar Jackson suffered a sprained PCL in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.

Unfortunately, the superstar quarterback didn’t play again this year. Baltimore went 2-3 in the five regular season games without Jackson. They made the playoffs but lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round, 24-17.

While the media's attention has been centered around the quarterback’s future with the team, the Ravens will place the franchise tag on Jackson if needed this offseason. After they deal with that problem, Baltimore will turn their attention to the NFL Draft.

What Draft Picks Do The Baltimore Ravens Own?

After ending the year with a 10-7 record, the Ravens will have the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It will mark the fifth time in the past six years that the team will pick outside the first 20 selections.

Overall, Baltimore has only five draft picks this year. They sent their second and fifth-round picks to the Chicago Bears in a deal for linebacker Roquan Smith before the trade deadline.

The Ravens have had at least eight draft picks every year since 2018. Therefore, fans shouldn’t be surprised if the team trades back and adds more draft picks at some point this offseason.

Who Could The Baltimore Ravens Draft In The First Round?

Baltimore could go in several directions with the 22nd overall pick. However, the top need for the Ravens is a wide receiver. During the 2022 NFL Draft, the team sent wide receiver Marquise Brown and a third-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for the 23rd overall pick.

Unfortunately, that left Baltimore very thin at wide receiver. Outside of second-year man Rashod Bateman, who struggled to stay healthy, the Ravens didn’t have a reliable wide receiver all year. Maybe the team will make a trade for a veteran like DeAndre Hopkins or Brandin Cooks. However, they could also pick a wide receiver with their first-round selection.

One name to watch for is Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba. While he struggled with injuries this past season, the Buckeye receiver was a force in 2021. Despite playing behind Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, Smith-Njigba had 95 receptions for 1,606 receiving yards and nine touchdowns a year ago.

Pairing the former Buckeye with a healthy Bateman and Mark Andrews would give Jackson an excellent trio of pass catchers.
