Chicago Cubs shortstop prospect Ed Howard (hip) will miss significant time with a major hip injury. The first-round pick in 2020 suffered the injury last week. The 20-year-old missed time with a hamstring injury in 2021 has performed in just 103 games during his professional career and this injury will certainly stunt his development. The Chicago native was hitting .244 with one home run, 11 RBI and three stolen bases in 23 games for High-A South Bend this season. When healthy, Howard is a plus defender. Offensively, Howard has shown signs of poor plate discipline, but he has shown quick bat speed and remains a project in that department. Managers in dynasty leagues can ignore Howard at the present moment.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBallerRead More News
