NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/12/22

After a few crazy days of games, we kick off the weekend with an eight-game slate tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

There will not be anyone playing on the second-half of a back-to-back. The Canadiens and their league-worst 3.77 GA will host the Kraken, while the Flames and their league’s fifth-best 3.46 GF will hope to burn down the Red Wings.

DISCLOSURE: Things may not be the same at puck drop due to COVID-19 and injuries. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Jacob Markstrom- DK $8.4K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

There is not much value in terms of netminders on the slate without taking some risk. Therefore we will look at the top of the salary range at Markstrom. The Flame has been consistent throughout the season, although he is in a lull right now. The Red Wings are also playing extremely inconsistent and over their last ten games, they are over exceeding expectations with fewer shots. The high will fall eventually and we want to get ahead of the train. If you don't trust Markstrom, Jeremy Swayman – $8.5 on DraftKings is another solid option –.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Swayman(DK $8.5K || FD $8.1K), ForsbergDK $7.9K || FD $7.2K), Daws(DK $7.6K || FD $7K), Oettinger(DK $7.5K || FD $7.7K), Fleury(DK $7.3K || FD $7.4K)

NHL DFS Centers

Dylan Strome-DK $5K || FD $5.6K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Playing against potential opposing netminder Anton Forsberg is not exactly ideal. However, the top-line of the Blackhawks is currently on a heater. Over the last five matches, Strome has a 6-4-10 line with 16.0 shots. Back during the Junior days with the Erie Otters, Stromer and Brinksy – Alex DeBrincat – were a force to be reckoned with and they were a partial reason for the Otters winning the OHL Cup in 2017. They seemed to have picked that chemistry right back up with Patrick Kane also in the mix. For $5K in salary, Strome is a fantastic option.

Jack Hughes- DK $6.7K || FD $8.4K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks are not handling the heat out in Cali so well lately, going 1-4 in their last five games. They have also conceded over 4.0 goals per game on average. Welcome, Jack Hughes. The Devils are also playing poorly, however, Hughes continues to be the primary producer. Since January 27th, the center has only gone two games where he did not get at least one point and over his last five games, he has a 2-4-6 line with 19.0 shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bergeron(DK $7.5K || FD $7.1K), Lindholm(DK $7K || FD $8.1K), Hintz(DK $6.1K || FD $6.6K), Suzuki(DK $5.8K || FD $6.2K), Henrique(DK $4.8K || FD $5.7K), McCann(DK $4.2K || FD $5.2K), Haula(DK $3.6K || FD $4.1K)

NHL DFS Wings

Cole Caufield- DK $4.9K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Neither the Canadiens nor the Kraken are playing inspiring hockey, however, Montreal has the advantage here. The Canadiens are also outperforming expectations right now while the Kraken are underperforming and also receiving poor goaltending. The two combined are a recipe for disaster and it will provide every chance for Caufield to score. Over his last five games, he has a 1-4-5 line and 16.0 shots.

Johnny Gaudreau- DK $7.3K || FD $8.7K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

We are once again targeting the poor play of the Red Wings. In their last ten games, they are averaging 5.07 GA. That is far more than what they should be conceding – 3.17 xGA –. Not only are they getting poor defending, but also terrible goaltending too. There are a few great options at wing tonight, but Gaudreau's insanely good form is too hard to pass up in a prime matchup. In his last five appearances, he has a 6-4-10 line and 17.0 shots. Gaudreau has also only scored single-digit points on DraftKings once over his last seven games.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Kucherov(DK $8.5K || FD $9.6K), Marchand(DK $7.5K || FD $8.5K), DeBrincat(DK $6.8K || FD $8.1K), Robertson(DK $6.5K || FD $8.6K), Hoffman(DK $3.9K || FD $4.8K), Schwartz(DK $3.8K || FD $5K), Mercer(DK $3.1K || FD $4.7K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Erik Karlsson- DK $5.2K || FD $6.1K

Opponent - Los Angeles Kings

Karlsson showed very little signs of rust in his return to play during the win against the Kings at Crypo.com Arena. The defenseman had 2.0 assists, 3.0 shots and 1.0 blocked shots. He is by far the best-valued defenseman on the slate and offers a respectable ceiling as well in a rematch with California rivals.

Esa Lindell- DK $3.8K || FD $4.6K

Opponent - New York Rangers

Teammate Miro Heiskanen was diagnosed with mononucleosis and will be out indefinitely which will now promote Lindell to the second power-play. In his two games since, he has 2.0 assists, 2.0 shots and 5.0 blocked shots. He is still putting together a reasonable floor while adding a slight bump to his ceiling. The Rangers have shown that they have a weakness lately and all Lindell needs is a puck bounce in his favor.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Jones(DK $6.4K || FD $6.6K), Hamilton(DK $6.3K || FD $6.5K), ChychrunDK $5.6K || FD $5.9K), Giordano(DK $5.3K || FD $5K), Wideman(DK $2.5K || FD $3.7K)
