BALLER MOVE: Sit in 12-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4
ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones has been one of the league's more productive No. 3 receivers this season. He has played at least 63 percent of snaps in all but one of his games, and he's averaging 5.5 targets per week. Even as he faces competition in the passing game from the likes of Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Travis Etienne Jr., and Evan Engram, the 28-year-old has maintained standalone value.
The six-year veteran's fantasy upside will only rise going forward after Kirk was diagnosed with a core muscle injury that will require surgery and sideline him for six to eight weeks. Kirk suffered the injury during the first quarter of last week's game against the Bengals and was quickly ruled out. Operating as the Jaguars' de facto No. 2 receiver on Monday, Jones caught five of eight targets for 78 yards while playing a season-high 93 percent of offensive snaps.
Jones should see a high snap share again in Week 14 versus the Cleveland Browns. Normally, this would vault him into top-30 range, making him an appealing option in most leagues. However, the Jaguars are likely to be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence (ankle) next Sunday. The offense is bound to take a step backward with C.J. Beathard under center. Even though he completed nine of 10 passes at the end of Monday's game, he's not nearly as reliable as Lawrence.
When Lawrence makes his eventual return, Jones will be worth starting as a WR3/FLEX play. Until then, though, he should be benched in 12-team formats.
