BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3
ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones had a productive 2022 season as the No. 2 guy on offense. Many expected him to struggle this year after the team acquired Calvin Ridley. The veteran is the WR89 for the season, averaging 6.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Jones has missed six games because of injury.
He has scored fewer than 5.5 fantasy points in 57.1% of the games this year. However, Jones has fantasy value for the fantasy football playoffs. Since Christian Kick suffered a groin injury on the first play in Week 13, the veteran has the second-most routes run (52) on Trevor Lawrence’s 56 dropbacks.
Last week, Jones saw 14 targets in the 31-27 loss to the Cleveland Browns, a team-high. While he only caught five passes, fantasy players should be encouraged by the massive target share.
Sunday night, Jones faces the Baltimore Ravens. The AFC North division leaders have held wide receivers to 24.3 fantasy points per game in 2023, the seventh-fewest in the NFL. Yet, they gave up 245 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 45.1 fantasy points to the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver core last week.
Fantasy players should start Jones as a WR3 with upside. The veteran is a worthy flex option, thanks to Baltimore’s struggles last week and his recent target volume.
