Will Wagner is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 23 (2024). Target Will Wagner as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Use as Streamer for Rest of Season / Stash in Dynasty Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: In Majors
ANALYSIS: Will Wagner, the son of legendary closer Billy Wagner, was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays at this year’s trade deadline from the Houston Astros as part of the Yusei Kikuchi return. The 26-year-old currently ranks as the 19th-best prospect in the Blue Jays system and was called up to the majors on August 12.
Since receiving the call, Wagner has been hitting an extremely hot bat. In nine games (28 at-bats), he is slashing .393/.414/.500 with three doubles and five RBI. Not only has he been tallying up hits, but he has hit the ball with above-average exit velocity so far – he has an average of 92.3 EV while the MLB average is 88.5.

As the Blue Jays are using the rest of the 2024 season to see what they have for the future, Wagner should see lots of playtime down the stretch. If he continues to hit the ball well, he may serve as a valuable streamer throughout the end of your fantasy baseball season.
As there is expected to be much more competition on the Jays’ major league roster next season, his fantasy value in 2025 is unknown. Still, if he keeps up this level of baseball IQ and maturity, he could be worth stashing in dynasty leagues as well.
