Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 6:
Germie Bernard, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard had the best game of his young career in Week 5, recording six catches for 80 yards on nine targets in his team's 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Heading into Week 5, Bernard had recorded just seven catches across the Steelers' first four games. However, Bernard's Week 5 workload increase may be more than just a one-week blip.
Pittsburgh wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (foot) is currently on Injured Reserve, and wideout Roman Wilson (finger) has already been ruled out for Week 6 after suffering a finger injury in Week 5. As a result, Bernard could profile as the number two option in the Steelers' passing game behind WR1 DK Metcalf for at least one week.
If the young wideout can take advantage of the opportunity, he could establish himself as a season-long contributor in Pittsburgh. Particularly in deeper leagues, Bernard profiles as an intriguing waiver wire candidate for fantasy managers.
Jeremiyah Love, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love was unable to find any success on the ground during Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. Love was effective in the past two games, but was completely shut down on Sunday. He carried the ball 12 times for 22 yards in the loss.
It didn't help his case that the Cardinals were getting blown out, so they had to basically abandon the running game in the second half of this game. Fantasy managers can be hopeful for a bounce-back performance next week, but they take on the Rams on the road. Love should at least be able to top this performance during next week's divisional contest.
Carnell Tate, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate was quiet in Week 5, catching just one of five targets for six yards in a 26-3 Week 5 loss to the visiting Houston Texans. The rookie from Ohio State was questionable to play on Sunday due to a minor back injury but was cleared to play just before kickoff on Sunday.
It's a disappointing effort after the 21-year-old had nine catches on 12 targets for 145 yards in a Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. To make matters worse, the Texans' passing defense entered Sunday's matchup allowing a whopping 260 yards per game. Tate will try to right the ship against a dismal Indianapolis Colts defense in Week 6, but was a bust for fantasy managers in a tough Week 5 loss.
Antonio Williams, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders rookie Antonio Williams caught all three of his targets in his team's 27-27 tie with the Giants in Week 5. He played 68% of snaps, which was second on the team at receiver behind only Treylon Burks. Stefon Diggs (hamstring) missed that contest, and Terry McLaurin was limited to 58% of snaps while playing through a hamstring injury of his own. With both veterans working through injuries, Williams could continue to step into a more expanded role.
The third-round pick has 15 catches for 155 receiving yards and a touchdown in his five games and is a solid waiver wire option in deep leagues while he stays so involved and the Commanders focus on his development. He's still a high-risk starter in standard-sized leagues, but he can be rostered to help navigate bye weeks.
Makai Lemon, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles rookie first-round wide receiver Makai Lemon has had a quiet start to his NFL career. In his first three games, he had seven receptions on nine targets for only 38 yards (5.4 yards per catch). Top receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) has missed the last two games, though, which has forced the young pass-catcher into a bigger role in losses to the Los Angeles Rams and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the last two weeks.
In the 19-17 loss to the Jags on Sunday in London, Lemon caught five of a season-high seven targets for a season-high 43 yards while playing a season-high 81% of the offensive snaps. Smith could return as soon as Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday, but Lemon is not going to simply go away as the team's first-round pick back in April.
Dontayvion Wicks earned a big role in this offense by impressing the coaching staff this summer during training camp, but if Lemon continues to ascend, it would not be a surprise at all to see the rookie take hold of the WR2 duties behind Smith by the end of the year. Lemon is already rostered in 41% of Yahoo leagues.
