Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland has yet to establish a significant role in the offense. Through two games, Loveland has played 50% of the snaps, while veteran Cole Kmet dominates with 90% of the snaps.
The 2025 tenth-overall pick faces a favorable matchup in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys, who have allowed the most points and yards of any defense in the NFL so far in 2025.
While a breakout performance is possible this week, Colston Loveland's limited role and snap count keep him on the bench for managers in most fantasy formats this week.
Kyle Pitts Sr., TE, Atlanta Falcons
After missing Wednesday's practice and participating in a limited capacity on Thursday, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe) logged a full practice on Friday and is off the injury report ahead of a Week 3 divisional clash with the Carolina Panthers. Pitts' 11 receptions through two weeks are tied for the team lead with wide receiver Drake London.
In Carolina, Pitts faces the league's 31st-ranked defense against tight ends, a position they've struggled mightily to defend over the past year-plus, making him a viable starter at a position that many fantasy managers will spend the season streaming.
However, given the Panthers' similar struggles against the running game, don't be surprised to see another heavy dose of Bijan Robinson, while the bulk of the team's passing work could go to London, as the team attempts to get him over the early-season hump he's faced.
Isaiah Likely, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions. The young tight end, who broke his foot in training camp and underwent surgery to repair it, has been limited to individual drills at practice all week.
Although he was not placed on Injured Reserve, which allows him to return at any time, he will not be a factor this week. Last season, Likely posted a solid stat line of 42 receptions for 477 yards and six touchdowns.
However, the Ravens have one of the lowest target shares to the tight end position this year, with only five targets in two games, four of which went to veteran Mark Andrews. Likely should continue to be stashed in most formats and hopefully will see the field in Week 4.
Dalton Shultz, TE, Houston Texans
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz continued to be involved in Week 2 against the Buccaneers with Cade Stover on injured reserve, but he isn't a great play in Week 3 against the Jaguars. The veteran tight end's snap share increased from 54% to 59% but his targets dropped from five to four.
He had three catches for 29 yards against the Bucs, ranking second on the team with four targets. The Texans' offense has been mostly ineffective this season, but Schultz is getting enough targets to be a touchdown-dependent flier if you're out of other options.
Schultz is the TE29 in RotoBaller's rankings for Week 3, so he's only a TE2 in extremely deep leagues this week against the Jaguars, who have allowed a combined 10 catches for 82 yards to the position in the first two weeks.
Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders will face off against a tough Atlanta Falcons defense after a career day in Week 2, tying for second on the team with nine targets. He finished the game with six catches for 54 yards in the team's loss to the Cardinals. While the nine targets were encouraging, it's important to note that his involvement was a direct result of the game script.
Quarterback Bryce Young was forced to throw the ball 55 times as the Panthers fell behind early. In Week 3, Sanders will face a Falcons' pass defense that ranks second in the NFL, allowing an average of just 139.5 passing yards per game.
While his Week 2 involvement was a pleasant surprise, it's not enough to trust him on your fantasy team just yet. Leave Sanders on the waiver wire until he proves he can be consistently involved in the Panthers' offense, even when the game script isn't so favorable.
