Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had an ugly night in the Cowboys season opener against the New York Giants. He wasn't able to muster up 200 passing yards, and threw an interception while being held scoreless in the first half of play. New York dominated time of possession, which limited Prescott to just 34 pass attempts. He completed only 22 for a paltry 5.1 yards per pass attempt. The abysmal average led Dallas to only muster 244 yards of offense, 150 less than their opponent.
Two carries for 14 yards on the ground weren't enough to make up for his low passing production. It was a strangely terrible night for the offense, which did extremely well last year under then first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Perhaps that offense has been solved. We'll learn more to that effect in Week 2, when the Cowboys return home to face another bitter divisional rival, the Washington Commanders.
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love opened 2026 with 387 passing yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 39-22 loss to Minnesota. He completed only 21 of 42 attempts, threw one interception and lost a fumble, so the day was hardly clean. The volume and downfield production still stand out. Christian Watson finished with 147 yards and two scores, Matthew Golden added 95 yards, and Love averaged 9.2 yards per attempt despite completing only half his passes.
He offered nothing as a runner, which keeps his fantasy ceiling tied closely to what Green Bay can generate through the air. That is a real limitation, but Love still sits atop RotoBaller's Week 2 quarterback waiver rankings and is worth adding in 12-team leagues where he remains available. He also has immediate streaming appeal for Sunday's road game against the Jets. After throwing 42 times in the opener, Love has enough passing upside to be more than a one-week rental if this volume sticks.
C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 15 of his 25 pass attempts (60% completion rate) for 155 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He didn't take a sack in the contest. That stat line would be subpar for any quarterback, but it's especially frustrating for a veteran passer who won the league MVP award last season while having Puka Nacua and Davante Adams at his disposal.
Stafford was unable to keep the Rams in this game for long, and he ended up getting replaced by Stetson Bennett once the score got out of hand. There's no real excuse for this performance, but if it's any consolation, managers should expect him to play a little better once he's not traveling to Australia and turning around to play a football game less than 24 hours later.
The Rams will return to the United States soon, giving Stafford 11 days to get back on track before his next game against the New York Giants in Week 2. Largely thanks to his supporting cast, Stafford remains a fringe top-12 fantasy quarterback for the time being.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye completed 23 of his 33 pass attempts for 178 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and three interceptions. He also rushed for 57 yards and took three sacks. Maye did show occasional flashes, but for the most part, he demonstrated poor decision-making and cost the Patriots the game. On the final drive of the game, Maye committed an intentional grounding play, and then one play later, he took a sack when he could have thrown the ball away.
He made up for these bad plays by using his arm and legs to get the Patriots into the red zone, but then everything backfired as Maye threw an ill-advised pass that was picked off with 26 seconds left. The interception sealed the loss for New England, who had been in range to tie the game with a field goal. The only good news for Maye is that he got one of his toughest matchups out of the way. Things should get a little easier next week as Maye and the Patriots host the Steelers on 11 days' rest.
