Several rookies have been generating a ton of buzz over the last several weeks. Rookies have really been the talk of the town in the fantasy landscape for most of the summer. Sometimes, though, deciding whether to start these rookies in Week 1 could be a difficult decision.
In this article, we will look at whether fantasy managers should be starting Tetairoa McMillan, Travis Hunter, and Tre' Harris. McMillan and Hunter were both first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Harris was taken in the second round of April's draft.

Should I Start Tetairoa McMillan for Fantasy Football Week 1?
No rookie wide receiver has a better chance to finish as a fantasy WR1 than McMillan this season. The Panthers selected him with the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and the former Arizona superstar goes to a Carolina offense where he should see plenty of targets in Year 1. That's on par with what Panthers head coach Dave Canales said last month.
In an interview with Josh Graham late in July, Canales said McMillan is "going to get targeted a lot." With the Panthers recently trading away Adam Thielen, the rookie may be featured early and often in this offense. Therefore, the 6-foot-5 playmaker should be started in every format in a Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars.

Although McMillan has been dealing with a hamstring injury in recent weeks, it appears that he will be good enough to play in Week 1 after returning to practice earlier this week. He'll now go up against a Jacksonville secondary that allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers last year. That should help him finish with strong fantasy numbers in Week 1.
Should I Start Travis Hunter for Fantasy Football Week 1?
The expectation is that Hunter will play both sides of the ball to start his NFL career. As a result, all fantasy managers want to know what that might mean for his fantasy value in 2025. If he is splitting opportunities at both wide receiver and cornerback, it could be hard to trust him every week in your fantasy lineup.
However, Hunter will come in as a solid WR2 play in Week 1 against the Panthers. If training camp is a sign of what's to come for the rookie in his first season, then he will be playing more wide receiver than cornerback this year. According to ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco, the Colorado product played 188 snaps on offense and 176 snaps on defense through 15 practices in the summer.

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen also said that Hunter could play around 80% of the team's offensive snaps. If that's the case, he should be started in every format against a Panthers defense that allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to wideouts last season. The rookie will also likely be matched up against Mike Jackson in this game, who ranked 99th among all corners in fantasy points per target allowed (2.1) in 2024.
Should I Start Tre' Harris for Fantasy Football Week 1?
The hype surrounding Harrs has definitely cooled off in recent weeks. Part of that has to do with the Chargers signing veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen to a one-year, $8.52 million deal earlier this month. That move likely results in Harris having a secondary role in this offense to begin the 2025 season.
As a result, Harris should not be started in most cases in Week 1 against the Chiefs. He will probably start the season as the team's WR4 behind Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Allen. Even if Johnston misses this contest as he continues to progress from a concussion, the rookie is still a risky play in almost all formats.

The Chargers only scored 27 combined points in their two matchups against the Chiefs in 2024, meaning points might be hard to come by for this Los Angeles offense. On top of that, Kansas City allowed the fifth fewest receiving yards to opposing wide receivers a season ago. So, it's best to stay away from the Ole Miss product in fantasy in Week 1.
