Fantasy Football Draft Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider drafting in 2025:
Isaac TeSlaa, WR, Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions selected big-bodied Arkansas WR Isaac TeSlaa in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. In his first four drafts as general manager of the Detroit Lions, Brad Holmes spent Day 1 or Day 2 capital on three different skill position players. Detroit selected wide receiver Jameson Williams, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and tight end Sam LaPorta. Add in their 2021 fourth-round pick, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the Holmes/Dan Campbell era has yet to miss.
The Lions hope to continue the streak of good fortune with TeSlaa. A former high school quarterback, TeSlaa began his collegiate career at Division II Hillsdale College, where he converted to WR and showcased enough talent to become a sought-after player when he entered the transfer portal before the 2023 season. Although he did not reach 35 receptions or 550 yards in either of his two seasons with the Razorbacks, his vice-like hands and impressive athleticism were undeniable.
He finished his SEC career with zero drops on 100 targets, and he propelled himself into Day 2 consideration with a quietly consistent week at the Senior Bowl and an underappreciated Combine performance. After running a blazing 4.43 40-yard dash at 6'4" and 214 pounds, his Relative Athletic Score of 9.93 ranked 29th out of nearly 4,000 WRs since 1987, per Kent Lee Platte. While Detroit was the No. 1 scoring offense in 2024, it will be without offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
New OC John Morton returns to Detroit after leading a top-10 offense of his own as OC of the Denver Broncos, having spent time with the Lions in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant. Unless Morton plans to overhaul the offense, TeSlaa's inside-outside versatility should allow the Lions to continue their creative movement of St. Brown and Williams across formations. With only Tim Patrick and Kalif Raymond ahead of him on the depth chart, TeSlaa's serviceable blocking and reliability could lead him to push for a regular role in three-WR sets earlier than expected.
Currently, RotoBaller's WR 122, TeSlaa, should be seen more as an in-season waiver add in redraft leagues. Still, as the WR14 in rookie drafts, he possesses the exact makeup and opportunity that should be targeted in the 4th round in rookie-only drafts. During the preseason, TeSlaa has seen his stock increase and has put himself in a good position to compete alongside Patrick and Raymond much earlier than expected for a role. While he is best left for dynasty formats for now, he could be worth starting in deeper 14+ 3WR formats early in the season.
Jalen Royals, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to seek depth and talent in their receiving room by choosing Jalen Royals as the 2025 No. 133 overall pick. The Utah State standout erupted in 2023 to tally up 15 total touchdowns receiving, setting a school record, and 1,080 yards on 71 receptions to earn first-team All-Mountain West recognition.
Between 2023 and 2024, Royals averaged 15.1 YPC and caught 21 touchdowns in 20 games, although his 2024 season ended early due to a torn deltoid in his right foot. Despite the injury, Royals recorded a 4.42 40-yard dash at the combine and have been spotted making leaping grabs during recent 7-on-7 drills with Patrick Mahomes at the helm. Considering the Chiefs' WR room consists of Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Royals should have a healthy chance at seeing playing time sooner rather than later within the rotation. If Chiefs star receiver Rice misses any time due to his court case, Royals could have a clear path to a high snap share within a Chiefs offense that is looking to return to its explosive downfield nature this offseason.
The 22-year-old comes in as WR99 in our latest RotoBaller rankings in redraft leagues and is ranked 32nd among all rookies. With Kansas City's crowded wide receiver room, Royals is more of a late-round flier in redraft leagues while becoming a middle-round target in dynasty formats.
Trevor Etienne, RB, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Trevor Etienne will face stiff competition from the team's top-2 running backs, Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle, for any meaningful touches in the Panthers backfield in 2025.
With running back Jonathan Brooks (knee) out for the season in the Physically Unable to Perform list due to his second ACL tear, Etienne is set to at least be the team's RB3. But both Hubbard and Dowdle performed well in 2024, and they're likely to form some kind of committee backfield that hogs nearly all the touches.
Etienne will have time to sit and learn the scheme, but without an injury to either Dowdle or Hubbard, there isn't anything about Etienne's profile that immediately jumps out that makes you think he'll leapfrog either on the depth chart. Teams simply have to have depth pieces, and the rookie seems set to slot into one, but he's an extremely deep bench stash in dynasty leagues, with very little upside.
Devin Neal, RB, New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints chose running back Devin Neal late in the 2025 NFL Draft, with their 184th overall pick. Neal will slot in immediately as the team's RB3. Kendre Miller has been limited to 14 games over the past two seasons due to injuries. Neal presumably might only have to stay healthy to leapfrog him on the depth chart, though.
Still, RB Alvin Kamara will be the starter, and if he plays anything like he did last season, he will maintain his role as the clear RB1 and workhorse back on this team. Neal is currently third on the RB depth chart, but with Miller's injury history, he could easily slide in as Kamara's top backup.
Neal is worth taking a shot on in deep leagues or as a handcuff to Kamara's managers. The 22-year-old is RB78 in the latest RotoBaller rankings and is more of a dynasty stash heading into 2025 fantasy football drafts.
Jack Bech, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jack Bech was selected by his new team near the end of the second round, giving him very good draft capital. It's a bit of a red flag that he didn't test at the 2025 NFL Combine, and it's likely that his speed would have disappointed.
Still, the tape is hard to argue with. Bech is a pretty polished route-runner who's a menace at the catch point and with the ball in his hands. He's consistent with his routes and understands how to use leverage to create separation between he and opposing defensive backs. Even on plays where he doesn't separate well, his quarterback can trust him because he has strong hands and fights hard for every possession. With the ball in his hands, Bech is a beast.
Fantastic effort shines on his tape, and he's often able to break tackles and carry other tacklers with him for extra yards. A WR in the NFL with a similar skillset is Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua -- both shone in similar areas and to similar degrees in college. Bech will likely step into the role once occupied by Raiders WR Tre Tucker (largely due to a lack of other receiving options for the team), which should immediately earn him hefty playing time and opportunities.
With quarterback Geno Smith throwing to him, Bech is a sneaky sleeper in redraft leagues. However, during the preseason, Bech was beginning to lose opportunities to Tucker and fellow rookie Dont'e Thornton Jr.. While Bech could be limited early in the season, he is worth a look in deeper PPR formats as he could carve out a larger role as the season progresses.
