Tyrod Taylor is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for quarterbacks. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 13 of the 2021 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 11% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: We all knew Deshawn Watson was going to stay off the field for the year with 99% confidence. It happened (I mean it is happening and will keep happening) and Tyrod Taylor was the main beneficiary... until he got banged up and he wasn't anymore. Good for him, for fantasy GMs, and virtually for everybody not named Davis Mills, Taylor just returned to the field in Week 9, went on a Bye in W10, and has now back-to-back top-14 games at the position. For most of you out there managing in 2QB/Superflex leagues, Taylor should be a must-roster, must-start player weekly.
Taylor started the year with a bang when he dropped 22.6 FP on Jacksonville. That was going to be hard to keep up, and it was indeed. After that, Taylor scored 16.5 FP in W2 after leaving the field and then came back on W9 to a score of only 8.9 FP throwing 3 INTs to no TDs. He's been much better after the Texans Bye, though, reaching 18.1 and lately 15.3 Fp in the past two games. The best about Taylor, all things considered, is his rushing prowess. He's been able to score three total touchdowns this season on the ground, and he's always rushed for 23+ yards or scored a TD in all of his five games.
Even though Taylor is not a bonafide TD-thrower (five in five games) and has some interception issues (four on five with 3 INT in one single game) the truth is that he is mostly a low-risk quarterback throwing low volume of passes, completing around 66% of them on average, and keeping the fantasy hopes of his GMs up only with his rushing prowess. That's not bad though, and as I said in the intro, as long as you play in a deeper league that affords you to start a couple of quarterbacks you can do much worse than playing Taylor ROS.
