BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Several members of the New Orleans Saints' backfield are still coming and going, but like many teams around the NFL, injuries have forced them to get creative in several spots, and part of that has meant additional opportunity for multi-faceted Ty Montgomery. In his second season with the fourth NFL franchise of his career, the Saints have greatly reduced his involvement on special teams as compared to past years, but they are still great in deploying the Stanford alumnus in typical NOLA dual-threat fashion.
Montgomery has had two games where he saw 50% or more of the offensive snaps, the first coming in a week four loss to the Giants (two carries for seven yards and three receptions on three targets for 42 yards), and the second being this past week in a 31-6 blowout loss to the Bills on Thanksgiving, where in which he took six carries for 14 yards and caught five passes on seven targets for 31 yards, leading the team in both targets and receptions. Tony Jones Jr. has entered the mix and remains a factor in the backfield, but his presence in the passing game is slim to none. As members of the Saints backfield recover and return, it is still important to note that Montgomery tends to see the most involvement during losses, and with NOLA's upcoming schedule, there will several chances for garbage-time work. As a universally-available running back who can rack up receptions and passable yardage, Ty Montgomery is worth consideration in deeper formats.
