Top Candidates to Dethrone Bijan Robinson as the RB1 in Dynasty Fantasy Football

Heading into the 2024 NFL season, Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is the consensus No. 1 dynasty running back after a rookie season that saw him finish with 1,463 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns.

But anything can happen in the NFL. Injuries can derail a player's trajectory, or a player could just fail to live up to expectations, allowing a different player to take his spot at the top of the fantasy rankings.

Below are three running backs who could dethrone Bijan Robinson as the overall RB1 in dynasty leagues.

Breece Hall - New York Jets

The most likely option to surpass Robinson as the dynasty RB1 is Breece Hall. The former Iowa State product has played in 24 games through the first two seasons of his NFL career, averaging 60.7 rushing yards and 33,7 receiving yards per game so far.

Last season, Hall had a few bad games, but he also rushed for over 100 yards three times. He had a game where he finished with 95 rushing yards and 12 catches for 96 yards. He's an electric player who can make plays in both the run game and the receiving game. If Robinson slips, Hall could easily claim his spot as the dynasty RB1.

Jahmyr Gibbs - Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had some really impressive moments as a rookie. The Alabama product ran the ball 182 times for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns while also adding 52 receptions for 316 yards and a score.

While some concerns remain about his ability to be an every-down back at just 5-foot-9, Gibbs quieted a number of those concerns in his first NFL season, though he had more than 15 carries just twice. He has the talent to be the top back in dynasty, but it will take heavier involvement in the Lions offense for him to get there in 2024.

De'Von Achane - Miami Dolphins

De'Von Achane is currently the RB8 in RotoBaller's dynasty ranking, but his performance as a rookie suggests he has an incredibly high ceiling. Achane dealt with injuries and played in just 11 games in 2023, but he averaged 7.8 yards per carry and had 11 total touchdowns.

Like Gibbs, there are concerns about Achane, who is listed at 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, holding up over a larger workload. He's also on a team where Raheem Mostert is getting most of the goal-line work. Still, four 100-yard games as a rookie, including a game where he had 18 carries for 203 yards and two touchdowns while also adding four catches for 30 yards and two more scores, showcase just how talented Achane is. If he starts getting some of Mostert's goal-line touches, the sky's the limit.
