Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Nick Mariano's Rest-of-Season Outlooks for Elly De La Cruz, Leody Taveras, Gavin Williams

Elly De La Cruz - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Nick's updated top 300 fantasy baseball rankings for roto as of Week 13 (June 21, 2023). His rest-of-season rankings and projections for hitters and pitchers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We are almost at the midway point of the 2023 baseball season, as the MLB All-Star break is a few weeks away. It's time for another rankings check-in. Below is another edition of Nick Mariano's updated 2023 fantasy baseball rankings and tiers for roto leagues (5x5 mixed leagues) as of June 21, 2023. These rankings are being released in June and are looking at rest-of-season fantasy baseball rankings and player values for the rest of this MLB season from this point forward. There are many interesting storylines we are following closely, all baked into these updated rankings.

We have recently seen some top prospects, such as Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Emmet Sheehan, Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams, Boston Red Sox shortstop David Hamilton, and Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Henry Davis called up to the big leagues. At the same time, fantasy managers patiently wait for the call-up of Cincinnati Reds third base prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who has smashed 17 homers over 49 games in Triple-A, while Baltimore Orioles outfielder Jordan Westburg is slashing .290/.369/.565 with 17 homer runs, 52 RBI, and six stolen bases across 287 plate appearances for Triple-A Norfolk.

Chicago Cubs' top pitching prospect Ben Brown continues to pitch well for Triple-A Iowa and owns a 3.00 ERA while racking up 23 strikeouts over 15 innings in June. Since being promoted to the majors on June 5, Cincinnati Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott owns a (3-0) record along with a 1.14 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 22:9 K: BB across 23 2/3 innings (four starts). Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller has been one of the top rookies in baseball, posting a 2.83 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and a 28:10 K: BB over his five big league starts.

June Top-300 Updates

Injuries continue to pile up; Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino (shoulder) underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is out for the season. Cleveland Guardians right-hander Triston McKenzie (elbow) will be shut down for several weeks after being diagnosed with a UCL sprain. The Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Hunter Greene (hip) on the 15-day injured list due to right hip pain.

Reinforcements are coming, as Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy (hamstring) could be activated from the injured list this weekend. Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins (groin) has been cleared for rehab games and could be activated from the injured list as early as next week. New York Yankees superstar outfielder Aaron Judge (toe) is turning a corner in his rehab as most of the swelling in his toe is gone, and he could begin baseball activities soon.

Some notable recent performances include Texas Rangers outfielder Leody Taveras has been on fire recently, slashing .325/.341/.575 with three home runs, six RBI, six runs, and two stolen bases over his last 10 games. Atlanta Braves outfielder Eddie Rosario has crushed five homers over his previous five games and is hitting a whopping .667 (10-for-15) over his last 19 plate appearances. Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan O'Hearn is on a nine-game hitting streak, slashing .469/.500/.813 with three home runs, five RBI, and 10 runs across 34 plate appearances during the streak. Cincinnati Reds rookie phenom Elly De La Cruz is slashing .321/.387/.536 with two home runs, six RBI, 14 runs, and six steals over 62 plate appearances since making his MLB debut on June 6.

Some players are off to a terrific start, while some have struggled mightily to start the year. Which of these starts do we take seriously, and which do we put less stock into? Is it time to elevate our expectations on certain players and elevate touted prospects into a higher tier for fantasy baseball leagues? How much patience must we show for highly-touted players who have struggled out of the gate, especially veterans with proven track records?

Hopefully, the rankings below will give you some perspective on our thoughts on these topics and help you assess the strength of your rosters going forward. Let's see where players such as Elly De La Cruz, Christian Walker, Luis Arraez, Josh Naylor, Leody Taveras, Andrew Abbott, Bobby Miller, Eddie Rosario, Nolan Jones, Jake Burger, Royce Lewis, Taj Bradley, Joey Wiemer, Scott McGough, Corey Julks, Jesus Sanchez, Tyler Wells, Gavin Williams, Marcus Stroman rank, all of who are off to interesting starts in 2023.

Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Week 10 Update

These rankings will be updated every week throughout the season, so some of these situations are very fluid. It's not panic time yet, and we may not be ready to elevate hot-starting players into the elite yet either, but it's certainly a good checkpoint for the long fantasy season.

As always, be sure to stay on top of all the MLB news with our running list of 24x7 fantasy baseball news and injuries. And if you don't yet have our free mobile app, be sure to download it and stay on top of all the MLB news and analysis with our free push notification alerts.

Nick Mariano's ranks are as of June 21, 2023. They are for 5x5 category mixed roto leagues and will be updated regularly on our main fantasy baseball rankings dashboard all season long. Be sure to read our daily fantasy baseball analysis articles as well.
