Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was the 59th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Marshall had a productive college career, totaling 106 receptions for 1,594 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns at LSU. Furthermore, he had at least 10 receiving touchdowns in each of his final two years in college.

Unfortunately, the former LSU wide receiver had a quiet rookie season. Marshall had only 17 receptions on 30 targets for 138 receiving yards in 2021. He finished seventh on the team in targets while finishing the year ninth in receptions and receiving yards.

Last year Marshall’s numbers improved. However, they were still underwhelming. The former LSU wide receiver had 28 receptions on 47 targets for 490 receiving yards and a touchdown in 14 games. Yet, he finished third on the team in receptions and second in targets and receiving yards last year.

Should I Draft Terrace Marshall Jr.?

Despite a disappointing first two years in the NFL, Marshall is a popular deep sleeper this season. The Panthers have a new coaching staff this year, giving everyone a fresh chance to earn snaps. More importantly, Carolina traded away DJ Moore to the Chicago Bears in the offseason.

While the team added Adam Thielen, DJ Chark Jr., and Jonathan Mingo, Marshall has been the most talked about wide receiver this offseason. The third-year receiver has made several impressive plays during training camp.

According to the RotoBaller ADP, Marshall isn’t getting drafted in typical 12-team leagues. However, fantasy players should consider using their last-round pick on the former LSU wide receiver. While Thielen likely earns the No. 1 wide receiver role this season, Marshall has a realistic chance of being the No. 2 guy.

What Other Late-Round Wide Receivers Should I Target?

While the former LSU wide receiver is a potential deep sleeper, fantasy players should consider other options too. One option is Puka Nacua.

The rookie wide receiver was a fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the former BYU star has stepped up the past few days of training camp with Cooper Kupp sidelined by a hamstring injury.

More importantly, the Rams lack proven pass catchers other than Kupp. If the rookie can earn the No. 2 wide receiver role before Week 1, Nacua is worthy of a late-round draft pick.
