Should I Draft Blake Corum or Kyren Williams for Fantasy Football? Who is the Rams RB1 for 2024?

Kyren Williams - Fantasy Football, Waiver Wire Pickups

Should I draft Blake Corum or Kyren Williams for fantasy football drafts? Who will be the RB1 for the Rams in 2024? Jake tells you which running back to draft.

The Los Angeles Rams backfield will have a new face joining in 2024. After scoring 28 touchdowns last season with Michigan, Blake Corum, who was selected in the third round by the Rams in this past NFL Draft, will unite with young superstar Kyren Williams

This move positions Williams and Corum as the leading running backs for the Rams as they head into the 2024 season. Williams performed well in a starting role with the Rams last year, while Corum had a historically good college season.

But who will emerge as the Rams RB1 for fantasy football -- Williams or Corum? Let's break it down and find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Who is the Los Angeles Rams RB1?

Kyren Williams is the Rams RB1, and Corum will serve as his backup to start the season. Williams had a breakout season in 2023, averaging 21.3 fantasy points per game and finishing as the RB7 (PPR scoring). Williams’ track record over the rookie Corum is enough for him to secure the RB1 spot; however, his volume may take a step back from last season.

Last season, the Rams didn’t have an RB2 as talented as Corum, so Williams was able to see a tremendously high volume (he had a snap percentage of 82%). Now, with Corum there, this could be more of a true 1-2 punch out of the backfield, and both could serve as viable fantasy players.

It was also announced on Tuesday that Williams will be the team’s punt returner in 2024. This could mean that the Rams are prepping for Williams to see a lightened load in the backfield compared to last season, but it also means that his likelihood of injury will be higher. Still, Williams has earned his spot over Corum and will certainly be the go-to back in more situations.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

There isn’t much debate as to who you should draft if given equal opportunity or as to who will have a better fantasy season, as the clear answer is Williams.

After a tremendous season in 2023, Williams is projected to finish as the RB10 in 2024 and has an ADP of around 17. Conversely, Corum is projected to finish as the RB41 and has an ADP of around 117.

Even so, Williams’ role in the Rams backfield is expected to shrink mildly, while Corum's role will be larger than originally anticipated. I would hold off on drafting Williams as high as his ADP, but I would consider taking Corum’s before his. Williams feels more like a third-round pick, while Corum feels more like an early ninth.
