Royce Freeman is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2018, Royce Freeman has stuck around the NFL. This year, he began the season on the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad after the retirement of Sony Michel. Injuries to Kyren Williams (ankle) and Ronnie Rivers (knee) have him back on the fantasy radar in 2023.
Rookie sixth-round pick Zach Evans appeared to be ready to get some touches in the Rams' backfield when Cam Akers was traded to the Vikings. However, he's handled just four carries for 10 yards behind Williams and Rivers, failing to make an impact.
There's a real chance Freeman sees an even split with Evans in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he does, it'll be in a favorable matchup against a defense that has surrendered the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs.
Both running backs are risky plays in Week 7, but fantasy managers in deep leagues are often looking for running back production any way they can get it.
