ANALYSIS: With Houston's rookie RB Dameon Pierce likely sidelined for multiple games with a high-ankle sprain, the Texans will turn to a backfield that consists of Rex Burkhead and Dare Ogunbowale.
Houston waived backup RB Eno Benjamin after their Week 14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Pierce has dominated the usage in this Texans backfield throughout 2022, so it is tough to speculate how the coaching staff will divvy up the workload between their two remaining running backs, but the smart money is on the veteran Burkhead leading the way.
Burkhead appeared to be the back of choice following Pierce's injury, as he garnered two crucial carries late in a tight game against Dallas. That experience is what makes him the most likely back to earn volume in this lowly offense going forward.
Even though we're willing to pencil him in for inheriting a large chunk of Pierce's workload, this is still Rex Burkhead in the Houston Texans offense...so there's certainly limited fantasy upside. That said, volume and opportunity are key factors to fantasy success and Burkhead should get plenty of work against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. Those GMs in need of a FLEX option can give him a look on the waiver wire.
