Yuli Gurriel Placed On DL
7 years agoThe Houston Astros placed first baseman Yuli Gurriel (hand) on the disabled list on Monday. However, manager A.J. Hinch said Gurriel didn't have any setbacks in his recovery from surgery on his left hand on Feb. 28. "We met shortly after the BP ended and we just decided to err on the side of caution," Hinch said after the game. "There's been no setback, no issue than we want to give him a couple more days and our only option was to put him on the DL." He will report to Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday for a rehab assignment to "get a few games in," according to Hinch. Marwin Gonzalez and J.D. Davis will continue to split time at first base until Gurriel is ready to return from the DL -- each has started two games of the opening series against the Rangers. Gurriel should play mostly every day once he's healthy and needs to remain stashed in all leagues.
