Yoan Moncada Returns From Injured List
Yoan Moncada (thumb) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Niko Kavadas to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. The team also selected the contracts of right-handers Connor Brogdon and Hector Neris, designated right-hander Touki Toussaint for assignment and optioned right-hander Michael Darrell-Hicks to Salt Lake. Moncada played in just eight games with the Halos before landing on the IL with a sprained right thumb and went 4-for-21 with no homers, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. The 29-year-old Cuban infielder played in just two games on a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Inland Empire and was hitless in five at-bats with four walks and two strikeouts. He started at third and hit sixth on Tuesday against the Blue Jays but is merely a corner infield option in AL-only leagues.
