The Athletics have placed right-hander Luis Severino (oblique) on the 15-day injured list with a strained left oblique and recalled southpaw Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas. The A's put Severino on the IL retroactive to Aug. 6, though the severity of his injury is unclear. The 31-year-old combined to allow only eight earned runs in 23 innings in his four most recent starts, but his overall production still leaves plenty to be desired. Severino has gone 6-11 with a 4.82 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 103:44 in 136 1/3 innings. His strikeout rate of 6.8 per nine is the lowest of his career. With Severino down, 22-year-old righty Luis Morales will make the first start of his career Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles.--Connor Byrne
