Yankees Scratch Gleyber Torres Sunday
3 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres was scratched from the starting lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs for undisclosed reasons. With Josh Donaldson also getting the day off, Matt Carpenter will play third base and bat fifth, while DJ LeMahieu will shift to the keystone and hit cleanup against Cubs right-hander Keegan Thompson. If Torres is dealing with an injury, we'll update you. The 25-year-old middle infielder has provided plenty of power this year with 12 home runs, and he's hitting .253/.299/.495 with 28 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base in 186 at-bats. Outfielder Aaron Judge, who slugged two home runs on Saturday night, will occupy the leadoff spot on Sunday.
