Will Anderson 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Favorite For Defensive Rookie Of The Year
1 year agoOn many draft boards, including mine, Will Anderson was the safest defensive prospect in this year's NFL Draft, and he would have been the top overall defender in the 2022 class, too. That bodes well for his fantasy prospects when you consider Aidan Hutchinson logged three INTs and 9.5 sacks as a rookie last year. With that said, there is potential for IDP managers to overdraft the #3 overall pick in the Draft. With the Demeco Ryans connection and a similar prospect profile, Anderson is bound to earn comparisons to Nick Bosa and his role in San Francisco. Those comparisons are imperfect, though. Coming out of Ohio State, Bosa was already one of the best technicians in the NFL, and he had much better support on his defensive line than Anderson will have. While the 'Bama product is our current favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year, his combination of ceiling/floor is too low to consider him a DL1 option in any format. Instead, expect the inconsistent production that comes from a boom-or-bust DL2 and a very good but not elite dynasty target.
