Van Jefferson Won't Play Thursday Night
Van Jefferson (knee) has been ruled out for Week 1 of the regular season on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. Jefferson didn't practice at all this week and won't be ready for the start of the season after having minor knee surgery early in August. He'll have extra time to get ready for a Week 2 meeting with the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 18, so there's a chance the 26-year-old will be ready to rock for that one as the team's No. 3 wideout behind Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson II. With Jefferson out this week, Ben Skowronek should serve as the No. 3 wideout, while tight end Tyler Higbee will also have a higher weekly ceiling. Skowronek still shouldn't be much of a flex option, though, even in deeper leagues.
