Tony Watson Is A Good Handcuff For Mark Melancon Owners
7 years agoSan Francisco Giants newly acquired relief pitcher Tony Watson will pitch in a setup role for his new club. Watson spent most of his career with the Pirates, before finishing last season with the Dodgers. Watson has closer experience and along with Sam Dyson, will setup for closer Mark Melancon. Watson makes for a strong handcuff to Melancon who is recovering from forearm surgery and struggled last year. Manager Bruce Bochy likely would play the matchups if that was the case, but Watson would likely have a shot at saves in that situation. For now, unless you are targeting holds or own Melancon, Watson can be left on the waiver wire.
