Tony Pollard 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: No Longer An RB1 For Fantasy Football After Disappointing 2023
6 months agoTennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard was one of the biggest disappointments of the 2023 fantasy football season. In his 2022 season, Pollard outperformed starting back Ezekiel Elliott in the regular season but suffered a broken leg in the divisional round defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dallas Cowboys chose to move on from Elliott to give Pollard a shot at the starting role due to how he performed while healthy in 2022. Pollard didn't feel like himself due to the recovery from his fractured fibula to start the season. Although Pollard still had solid numbers, he didn't see the upgrade the Cowboys envisioned. In 2023, Pollard ended the season with 1,005 yards. That was two fewer yards than he had in 2022. The 27-year-old only had six touchdowns in his 2023 season, totaling nine in 2022 while behind Elliott. He had a career-high 252 rushing attempts last season but averaged a career-low of 4.0 yards per carry. The Cowboys didn't re-sign Pollard for 2024, opting to reunite with Elliott. He signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Titans this offseason. Pollard replaces Derrick Henry in a Tennessee backfield with second-year running back Tyjae Spears. For now, Pollard should be seen as the RB1 in that offense, but Spears will be pushing him. Offensive coordinator Nick Holz has said he envisions Pollard and Spears as "1A and 1B" on the Titans' offense. Spears had 100 carries, going for 453 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. He also hauled in 52 receptions for 385 yards and an added score. Pollard is presently ranked as the 23rd running back and 72nd overall player in RotoBaller rankings while seeing an NFFC ADP of 90, which puts him at RB28. He should be seen as an RB2 or flex option, but drafters should be cautious about expecting more from him with Spears on the roster.
